Sorry I don't have any good excuses. But here's my latest quick sketch: I had this weird dream of this structure lit up in a weird surreal way. When I do have dreams they often make no sense and most of the time I forget them within minutes of waking up. But this one scene stuck with me for some reason so I thought I'd draw it. I have a few other dreams that I remember from my past that might be fun to illustrate. One was this weird Zelda like world of a huge tree in the middle of a canyon filled with water. And near the base of the tree was a metal door laying on a surface slightly above water level. The tree might have also had a door on it. Another dream I had when I was a kid was I went to this strange world through my tv. And my blanket had something to do with opening the portal through the tv. The world was something like a Medieval Disneyland. I might do more dream sketches in the next couple weeks. New Tablet PC Update I've ordered my new tablet pc laptop from Fujitsu. However, due to the parts I customized for it I wont be getting it until March 7th-ish. I'm anxious to get it! I was happy to find out that it was almost $500 cheaper than the same computer I bought from Fry's. What a difference!
Artist Shopping for a Tablet PCFeb 20, 2008 10:32 pm by BogusRedThis blog entry is a long drawn out explanation of my recent experiences trying to purchase a Tablet PC. If you are an artist thinking about buying a Tablet PC and aren't sure which model to get this blog entry may offer some information on the subject.
Sketch Blog for realFeb 15, 2008 9:45 pm by BogusRedWow ok so I'm actually making a "sketchblog" post. Woo! I've got a tablet pc laptop for work and I've been thinking about buying my own. My work one is cool but it's really slow. It's not because it has bad parts. It's brand new with a fair amount of ram and a fast processor. But unfortunately the drive is encrypted so every write action to the drive is slowed down by the encryption. I've especially been frustrated with Painter. It's so slow that its unusable when working in really high resolutions. What resolution and dimensions do you guys work in when doing digital works? I usually do 600 dpi in 8 x 10 inches. A couple of people tell me I work at too high a res but I don't think this is too high. At this resolution, I can print it on 11x17 posters at 300 dpi. Actually sometimes I work at 800 dpi if i have something i think i'm going to print large. So I'm trying to decide what kind of laptop I want. I may decide not to get one and just use my work one. But I'm not sure yet. But anyway, while I was researching laptops I came across this forum post where this guy mentioned a program called ArtRage, stating it was a must have freeware for all artists using tablet pcs. I checked it out and downloaded it. Within 20 minutes of loading it I fell in love with it. It's really light weight so it runs well on slow machines. It's not all bloated like Photoshop and Painter. I decided to invest $25 and get the paid version of ArtRage because I loved it so much. So now I'm doing some sketching with it. I'm trying to sketch something every other day. Even if the drawing isn't particularly creative. Just need to keep my hand moving. My first entry was this one: Today I had some time to draw and wasn't sure what to draw. I looked around me and saw a Viking hat that a coworker had put near my desk earlier that day. So I thought, hey I'll draw myself with the hat on. Like a sort of silly self portrait. Why the heck not? Next time I'll try out one of those idea generators.
I met MickeyFeb 10, 2008 11:43 pm by BogusRedI went to Disneyland on Tuesday. The company I work for went there for an offsite and it was loads of fun. I got to meet Mickey Mouse! See? Here's my proof! It was fun. Mike and I will probably start planning our trip to go down there very soon. We will probably go in May or something. There's a couple of other parks we want to see down there too. I've made a lot of small updates to PD lately. Revamp of the view art submission page, new [codes], Ajaxifying add artists. I also made a couple of new profile skins based on Zarbon's Masterpiece Theater. They don't look as good as I think they could be though. I think I need to try harder. I'm also preparing to start selling the Premium accounts. There are just a few details I have to work out and I'll be ready to start selling them. I've taken a very short break from PD Media. I'll get back to working on the episode pretty soon. It's been tough scheduling meetings. But I'll work it out. We are trying to use Google Apps to stay better connected. I'm also working on a new OC Remix submission. It's part of a OC Remix project that I was invited to work on. I can't talk about the details though. I think the organizers want this project to stay quiet for right now. They'll probably announce it in a couple months. Yay more piano music!
Work work workFeb 2, 2008 12:43 am by BogusRedWork's been really busy ever since I got back from my winter vacation. I've had little time to work on the new Anime Spoof show and PaperDemon. But tonight and last night I found some time to work on my projects. The poll system got some love last night. I'm close to having this ready for premium accounts. I want to start selling the premium accounts by the end of the month, whether the features are completely ready or not. I've been meaning to sell those things for over two years now and I keep telling myself, "let me finish one more feature..." but the thing is I can't keep doing that. I will never be satisfied and I'll never end up selling any premium accounts. So I will sell them, working or not (though most things are working just fine). The polls is probably the only thing that might have some problems. On Monday something really amazing happened to me. I was privilaged enough to have my artwork seen by millions of people around the world. I wont divulge any details other than that. Anyway, I'm really tired. I worked all last weekend on a drawing and worked really hard all this week. This weekend is the first break I've had in 11 days. And then on Monday night I'm leaving for... Disneyland! My company is going to Disneyland for a company offsite. We get the park all to ourselves in the evening. It should be good fun. I can't wait to ride space mountain. I can't believe how spoiled I am. While I'm on the plane and in the evenings I intend to catch up on some drawing. Hopefully when I come back from my trip I'll have some nice art to post here. |
