16-year-old Cadence 'Chex' Dawkings is working late into the night on a paper when she is visited by the Sandman, also known as Somnus. Unwilling to go to sleep, Cadence runs, inciting a chase through the surreal landscape of dreams that begins the tale of The Dream Reaper.
