mostly i am an anime artist. I believe i can draw real well but my talents are brought to a screeching hult when it comes to coloring my pictures.

i have been told to draw a copy of  my picture in order to have a back up. but for me no 2 pic comes out the same and i cant afford a light desk right now.

I can do some coloring on the computer but again my sorces are limited and so is my knolage.

If somone could please help me find a good tool for coloring my art it would be really use full and appreciated. And maybe any aid books you know of.

Thank you

Well, for future reference, all Art related inqueries go in the Art forum I beleive. As for your problem, well for one Art doesent need color to be good, Manga is in black and white and it looks awesome. Otherwise all I can really suggest is practice, and maybe a good tutorial on Photoshop. For that try Google.

I can suggest every tool in the world but essentially it comes down to whether you want to or if others do. Do you want to colour them? If you do, I STRONGLY suggest not using lined paper. As conveniant as it is, it takes away from the picture. That aside, scanning the picture is a really good idea- you can then have essentially as many copys as you want as long as the line art is clean. The easiest way to have a clean line art is to ink your art with a black pen and scanning it as a black and white picture. If computers are not an option, then trace it against a window. What is a lightbox? A peice of glass with light behind- right? Beware- you'll never get it perfect that way.

Otherwise- what have you tried first? Pencils? Digetal. As PKN suggested, there's nothing wrong with a pencil picture- you need to concentrate more on contrast with pencil pictures, that's all.

If you want to give colouring a try, but not ruin your pics- I can e-mail you one of my linearts for the colouring competition for practise [emoticon]

actually, some people scan their images and print off a copy in light gray, so they don't screw up the original. Some of my best pics have a printed off copy thats colored the posted.

This is true. It was something I would've also suggested if you have access to a scanner, but not digetal colouring. You'll keep the origanal lines, but not destroy them if the colouring goes wrong. You have to be carefull to hide them though. I use this technique sometimes if I deside in the midle of my line arts that I want to pencil colour it. It's alot quicker that a window ^^
