Ok. This has nothing to do with PaperDemon, but I still need your guys's help.
I know everyone on this site has AIM and Flashplayer and other stuff like that. Well, I can't get it! I've tryed countless times to download it but everytime I go to download anything, be it a new desktop or something like Flash, it says ' This Object has been blocked.'
I don't know what the heck it is but its making me very very mad!! [emoticon]
And everyone's talking about how great ZMT is...and I can't see it. And I miss out when everyone leaves and goes into the AIM chatroom. I have no idea what it could be, parental controls, a virus, something thats beyond me....
Please help if you can...thanks much.

The browser may be the poblem- you may have disabled them in the settings. Check your settings to see if it's disabled there. And post what browser you use- that'll help [emoticon]

Yeah this sounds like it could be any number of things including parental controls and your browser. Ask whoever set up your computer for help.

Try it in Internet explorer and see if it works ( you still have it, right?). If it does work, then it's a browser fault. It may be something isn't ticked on,. If this doesn't work, then ask if there's a lock on certain type of things like movies and stuff- java even. I think Firefox states if it doesn't have the codec and will try to download it for you (huggles Firefox), so unless it's trying to download one, that shouldn't be the problem

On a Windows computer you can't uninstall IE. It's the same program used for the file browser ("Explorer" [emoticon] so it's an essential part of the Operating system, therefore to remove it would make Windows inoperable.

But yeah I hope you are able to get that fixed.

I didn't know that- does IE updates update that part of windows? What happens when you redownload IE? I though IE was seperate, but came with Windows cause you need a browser to surf.

If you download a Windows XP update, it may include an update to IE because IE is often the gateway with which malicious users put spyware, etc. into your system. When Microsoft does get around to patching the holes in IE, if it's a serious hole, you'll get the patch/update automatically if your Windows XP is set up to automatically update.

If you redownload IE, i really don't know how that works. My best guess is that it integrates itself into Windows. it's not a stand alone program.

Here's a way to illustrate how closely intertwined IE is with the OS. Double click on "My Computer" or go to any window that takes you to your "Explorer" (file explorer, not Internet Explorer). Then in the location field, type in a web address like http://paperdemon.com and it will take you to a web page. The opposite also works. If you open up IE and type in a file path such as C:\ or C:\Program Files it will give you a list of files just as if you were in the regular Explorer program.

Never thought they were intertwined... Funky, but I'd rather Firefox ^^

I've known people who tried to uninstall Internet Explorer and they ended up ruining their OS and had to reinstall Windows.

There is one upside to Internet Explorer, the new Google Toolbar for IE allows you to make custom buttons for it. hard to explain it but it's really cool. Hopefully that feature will come out for the Firefox Toolbar at some point. When it does, I'll create an official PaperDemon button and upload it to Google.com's toolbar buttons archive.

Woah- slow down... you're getting way into system stuff now. You should get someone that can see what programs you have and do things there. At worst you reinstall everything on your computer. You don't buy a new one!! X( Firewall is something I didn't think of, but you really need someone that knows what they're doign with that. There's a heap of stuff in those that if you allowe then it can trash stuff up. I use to use Kerio. It was great for shafting stuff. I dout its the problem but it may be. What have you done since your last post?

Kerio is a firewall software. It use to be called Tiny personal firewall. I'm on broadband now, so I don't need it, but its great for blocking bad stuff [emoticon] Just don't stress over it- get someone that knows what to do to look at it. It's not something we can fix via forum ^^;

I thought of another thing that it could be. It could be your user account settings in Windows. If your brother is the one who set up your Windows XP profile, he may have set it so that you can't install programs. He'll have to give you wider access privilages. Whoever is set as the Administrator on your computer can give you that sort of access. I'm just asuming that person is your brother.
