Okay..I'm really getting annoyed now. Every time I go to save a picture from online that I see in google image searches, or whatever, I never get the image. And I do this:

Right-click > Save picture as > Select my directory(which would be my pictures folder) and then when I select the file-type to save it as, it gives me either .bitmap, or .art. I used to be able to save as JPEG, not anymore for some reason. But when I do all this, and select either file-types, when offline, the picture can't be shown, and I use image preview to look at the pictures. Also, My fire-wall is disabled, and there's no parental controls etc. that interfere, I use AOL. If any of that info helps lol.

I love saving pictures I like to look at for references when I'm offline drawing and unable to use the internet, as well as saving favorite anime images, but if I can't save picture as, how can I? lol. HELP PLEASE!? ='(

It's not with just one single picture, it's with ANY picture I try. I try and try to save pictures as, and when I select either file-type, the picture won't appear -.-  Even though it SAYS I've saved it in my "My Pictures" folder. I mainly use Google image search. Hell, I even tried to "save-picture As" a drawing someone did for me on deviantart.com, but even THAT wouldn't show up in my pictures folder. I'm utterly Bamboozled beyond belief -.- Pun intended >_<

My "save as" option does the 'art' or 'bitmap' thing too I usually choose bitmap. cause with art the picture won't show. And then once I have the image I go into my photo eiditor and change the format to jpg. Did you try that?

You sure you're saving the Image and not the URL?

What browser you using? Can you make screen shots or is that pointless?

Woo, thanks Yuuki, those sites helped [emoticon] . I can finally save and actually have the picture showing, AND load when I go to open it, AND save in JPEG lol. Thanks to everyone else as well who tried to help me, much appreciated [emoticon] .

*Wonder why my pictures stopped displaying when they used to in the first place o.o;;*

Well looks like you've got your problem solved but here's some additional info anyway...

.art is a proprietary format created by AOL. My suggestion to you from now on is while you are logged into AOL, do NOT use AOL's browser. Just use Firefox and then you shouldn't have any sort of problems caused by AOL because AOL tries to always do their own spin on things and it screws everyone and everything up.

<~~ A very angry x-customer of AOL from back in the day.

I had like hundreds of pictures that I had saved from my days on aol and all of them were saved in aol's format so I couldn't open them in anything EXCEPT AOHELL. Arghehhadjohoiuahsd;fo a;ksdfh

So then when I got rid of AOL, I couldn't view any of my images anymore that I had collected over the years. I really hate AOL. For MANY reasons. ARHGJjojh oasjdfwr

it probably because the images you had before were jpgs so now right before you save at the end of the name put .jpg and it will force it to save as jpg! HA! bet that computer [emoticon]

This was a long time ago, way before Picasa. I don't have the files any more. But that's good to know Picasa can view them.

Uh that may not work. The file will have the jpg extention but it wont be written in JPG format so you'll end up with a messed up file. The extention isn't what makes a file a JPG. it's the data. It depends on how aol's software works. I still recommend using firefox.
