What is Oekaki?
Oekaki is a Japanese term meaning to doodle on the internet. You paint your drawing right within an Oekaki applet and the artwork is saved on the website you drew it on. It is usually within the context of a bulletin board system. Here at PaperDemon.com our oekaki is within our forums.
Oekaki applets have many features familiar to Photoshop users including layers, pressure sensitivity, pencil, paint brush, patterns, color picker, and more.

How do I start an Oekaki Topic?
Just enter the Oekaki forum and click on New Oekaki Topic at the top. You can enter the Oekaki forum by clicking on Forums in the main navigation, then scrolling down and clicking on Oekaki.

How do I reply to an Oekaki topic with an Oekaki drawing?
Click on the topic thread so that you are viewing it. Then click on Oekaki Reply at the top.

Is the artwork stored in my art gallery?
Yes.

When should I use reply and when should I start a new thread?
Just like with regular forum topics, a new topic should be started if the subject of discussion changes. If you already see a thread about drawing elves, you could reply to that thread with your own elf drawing.

How do I use pressure sensitivity in the paint applet?
If you have a pen tablet that is capable of pressure sensitivity, install the JTablet plugin so that you can take advantage of ShiPainter's pressure sensitivity features.
After you have it installed, click on the P icon in the corner of your painting canvas and a pressure sensitivity palette should appear.

Can I install this software on my own website?
You are free to install the Applet, ShiPainter which was created by Shi-chan. However, the forum software is proprietary to PaperDemon.com and is not available for download or licensing.
