I just got Linkin Park's new CD Minutes To Midnight and I have to honestly say that I'm severly disappointed [emoticon] I'm a huge HUGE Linkin Park fan but they totally changed their sound on this album. They sound emo instead of hard rock-ish. There are hardly any high energy songs but instead alot of slow songs WTF!! There are a few good songs but for the most part they sound like AFI now. Which kinda sucks cause their sound is what made them so awesome and now that they changed it they sound like any other emo band.

Has anyone else heard their new CD?? Or any songs from it??

Yeah, "What I've done" is one of the better songs on the CD. "Valentine's day" and "In Pieces" have started to grow on me. But yeah it's totally disappointing that their sound changed. I wonder why they chose to go a different direction with this album especially after Meteora was such a big hit. It's weird that they'd take such a dramatic turn.

IT's funny- my friend said that she thought they'd go downhill if they didn't change their style- I've only heard teaser clips of it, but I don't like it much- it's just like every other song on the radio- not spectacular. Does the CD suck too?

For the most part. There are a few good songs here and there but  nothing really awesome like in their other albums. They sound like an emo band which sucks cause they're not supposed to be emo. They're supposed to be hard rock damn it!! [emoticon]

Here's "What I've Done" if you want to hear it.
But actually you know after listening to the lyrics in some of the songs. they're really meaningful to what's going on with the US and Iraq right now and with what happened with Hurricane Katrina. The songs just don't do the lyrics that much justice though [emoticon]

Well, now I've heard it, it's not too bad. They've done some incredibble music, and I think since they've toned the song down a notch in pace, everyone is packing a hissy fit. IT's not their usual style, but as long as the whole albulm isn't like this, then I"m happy with this as a song. I'm not about to say its the greatest song in the world- it is just a tribute

You gotta believe me >.>

Lol- I'll stop now.

Seriously- for a tribute song, it has alot of heart, and you don't want a faster beat. I think you need to clear your mind of what old LP was and hear with unbiase ears. I don't think it's emo at all. It's sad which isn't usually their style, but look at other sad songs out there- I could feel a sinking feeling of sorrow. People just weren't expecting that from them

In saying this- the next step is the albulm. I'm ok with the single, but if the albulm is crap then that's a totally different argument.

I sort of agree in the sence that the popular ones seem to have Chester screaming, but I love alot of the ones where he isn't screaming too. People just aren't use to it. I think you'll warm to it. IT is a rather sad to listen to regularly though so I can see the inital hostility there [emoticon]

I guess I'm going to have people go "OMFG!!!! [emoticon] " for saying this. But I thought likin park sounded pretty emo before their new cd. There are like 2 songs they had that I like that didnt sound emo. But I just stopped listening to them. Because I got tired of the rap parts in their music and they sounded really whiny. But I have to agree their new cd really increased that emo sound by alot. They used to be somewhat bearable but now.........

You'll be very disappointed then cause the whole CD does actually sound like that. That song is one of the more FASTER songs which is weird for LP cause they normally do a lot of high energy songs.

And actually if you look up all their lyrics online pretty much all their songs are emo they just didn't sound emo until this CD because of the new style they're doing.

I totally agree with the tribute song thing and Minutes to Midnight has quiet a few tribute songs which I respect majorly I'm just not digging that they changed styles. I mean it doesn't sound bad really, it just sounds different. It'll definitely take a few runs through the CD to get used to the new sound. [emoticon]
This is actually what I'd say a little over half of the album sounds like- "Valentine's Day"

Thats why I stopped listening to them. They didnt have that emo sound. But if you read their lyrics...... [emoticon] And the only reason I am doing an old fashioned quote is because I dont know how the quote thing on here works. Its different from the one I'm used to.
