Ok soo, last October, I got my new computer(whoo!) and it came with all the normal programs, Microsoft Works and such. It gave me the code for all these programs, which was good.

A few months later, I go to open up Microsoft Word and it tells me that I need to convert to the full edition. Bummer.

Last time I checked, computers came with the full version of Microsoft Word. My old computer never had this problem, my moms work computers didnt either, and I asked my sister(my technical stuff God) and she said that it was odd, but since I dont get to see her much(shes moved out) she cant check it out for me.

I dont think Id be able to buy the full version...and I dont HAVE to have MW...but I really would like to be able to have it. I dont know if anyone can help me, but Id like to know what they think about all this.

Thanks ^_^

You get it made for you or you install everything yourself? Windows may come standard with trail ware and you need to buy the full version.

Go for office if you need to buy one- works don't save as a standard format (off memory)

About 5 years ago it was typical that when you bought a new computer it had Microsoft office on it. It did not come free or with Windows. You actually paid for it. It was just common back then for computer resellers to sell preinstalled software.

These days, computers come with the basics, but they are MUCH cheaper than they were before. It is now typical for computers NOT to come with Microsoft Word or office. If you are short on cash, try a free software called Open Office. It does many of the things Microsoft Office does.

Another alternative is Google Docs and Spreadsheets which doesn't require you install any software. It works in your browser! Just go to http://docs.google.com. It only has basic functionality though and is suitable for most people who use a word processor.
