Echidna, Mother of all Monsters
This is an official PaperDemon.com contest!
Contest Objective
Imagine that you are a concept artist for a role playing game and have been tasked with creating the character Echidna as a boss for the game. Create an illustration, sketch, or sequential art showing your vision of Echidna, the mother of all monsters from Greek mythology as she would appear as a boss in a video game. Be creative with it. Think about what type of role playing game this is. Is it a comedy? Is it a scary game? Is it a children's game? Is it a sci-fi game? Is it a romance with the Echidna stopping mid battle to attend to her husband Typhon? Or is she a giant mecha-robot with telescoping tentacles? The possibilities are endless. But we must be able to see some resemblance to the Greek mythological character in your piece.
Please note that Echidna, the Mother of all Monsters, is NOT the same thing as the spiny anteater that will appear in a Google image search for the term “echidna.”

Sweet, I'm in, too.
Ooh, damn, I just now read that. Could I not do that and instead depict her in my usual "19th-century etching" style? (Cerberus example: http://www.dinosoria.com/religion/cerbere4.jpg)

Your artwork does NOT have to be in a video game art style!
Runic Tunic, yes you can use your etching style. I'm not sure if you've ever seen concept art for games and movies but the concept art often has a great variety of styles. The art doesn't necessarily have to represent exactly what the character would look like in the game. Rather the concept art is used as an exploratory stage to see what the possibilities are. So just about anything goes.
Here's an example of some concept art for Monsters, Inc done by Lou Romano. This style is not at all representative of the animation style of the film. The concept art book is filled with artwork of various styles.
Also keep in mind that its entirely possible that a video game could be created entirely in an etching style! That would be pretty darn original and fantastic, now wouldn't it? Paper Mario is a good example. All the characters in Paper Mario are 2d pieces of paper. A video game doesn't have to be realistic.

I'll be done with my entry in a couple days. I'm really hoping for a shot at the month free Premium account, so please everyone, give this a shot.
I noticed Keen started his "asap," so it should be done about now, unless it's so wicked sweet and detailed that it's taken him all this time to do it.

Ouf, I wish I'd known about it sooner. But I don't think I can pull something off in the next two days. ;D
Oh well, I'll definitely be around for the next contest!
