PaperDemon Bugs/Code Changes

It's time I start documenting the bugs that sneak into PD's code and when I fixed them as well as other changes made. This document was started on July 14, 2007.

Confirmed Bugs to be fixed
Front page displaying birthdays - currently displays banned and locked accounts. set it up to ignore these users
Blog link on user profile bar is broken - I have removed this link until the link can be corrected. It doesn't work with the latest revisions to the blog system. will change it to go to a page that lists all blogs the user contributes to with their primary blog being at the top. discovered oct 7, 2007

Fixed Bugs
Orphaned oekaki - If a user deleted an oekaki image, a PHP error would appear when you viewed its forum topic. I've fixed it to ignore orphaned oekaki. 8.21.2007
Filters for art search - It was discovered by a member that filters weren't working for art search. it has been corrected. 8.21.2007
Buddy List not displaying (again) - buddy list broke again from recent optimization of 'online users'. fixed on 8.19.2007
Chatroom fixed - recent optimization of scripts has fixed the chatroom. 8.12.2007
Buddy List not displaying - page on users profile listing buddies was not working. caused by recent alias cache change. fixed 7.29.2007
Users Online - Page displaying users online shows AOL users multiple times. A recent change caused this. I've reverted back to an earlier change. 7.29.2007
PM original message - the original message portion of replied/forwarded PMs was getting lost due to a combination of installation of html validation script and malformed html. Fixed 7.25.2007
View Blog - smiley and other codes were not working. Fixed 7.25.2007
Submitting Writing - black text with some writing submissions should be automatically corrected upon submission. 7.25.2007
Core CSS - problems with nesting from percentage fonts. Finally fixed after a couple hours of hair pulling. 7.24.2007
View Artwork - 'write critique' button stopped working. 7.15.2007
Writing - viewing a writing entry the user links weren't being created properly. Fixed 7.14.2007
Image Folio - class included twice. Fixed 7.13.2007

New Features
Oekaki filters and galleries - filters and gallery selection support has been added to PD oekakis. 8.21.2007
Online Chatters - See how many people are in the chat room under the "Online" section. Data is in one minute cache with online users data. 8.17.2007
Subscriptions - Can subscribe to artists gallery from their profile page. 7.15.2007
Buddy list - View your buddy list from the Members Area menu. Ajax powered. 7.15.2007

Misc Code Changes/Improvements
Profile formatting - some profile formatting such as bold and italics weren't getting saved correctly.  corrected on 8.25.2007
Smiley Chart - improved look of it and cached it. Before in order for the chart to be displayed a call to the database was required. Now its just cached once a month. 8.19.2007
Art Optimization - Artwork section was changed so that gallery data is cached in the art table for use with site filters. Also, code for front page art was optimized and improved site performance dramatically. 8.18.2007
CSS and main template changes - removed 'online' block and moved up content to conserve space. 8.17.2007
html validator - htmlpurifier updated to 2.1.1   8.16.2007
Writing Submit - Added FCK editor into add chapter and add writing so that users can copy+paste. 7.16.2007
New User email/forgot password - changed format of email to html and changed text around in hopes that it would stop getting blocked by email providers. 8.15.2007
Online count Cache - before, data on number of users and guests online was counted with each load of the page. Now this data is cached into a small html file and updated via cron every 60 seconds. Reduces server load and should improve page loading time. 8.11.2007
Alias Cache - before, all usernames displayed on the site that had a symbol on them were generated on the fly which meant we checked to see if the user had a premium, was a mod, etc. every time the page was loaded. just changed it to cache this information instead. Some areas still aren't using cache but I will fix them soon. I did this to speed up the site. After an influx of traffic the site was loading too slowly. 7.28.2007
Post Comment (Art, Writing, Comics)- updated pages a bit to make more efficient use of small space. Implemented standard text input footer. 7.26.2007
Add/Edit Art submission - Made FCK editor window larger. Implemented standard text input footer. 7.26.2007
Members Portal Chatbox - Implemented standard text input footer. 7.26.2007
Login - updated the login to validate email address input. 7.25.2007
Compose Private Message - increased size of FCK editor. implemented standard text input footer. 7.25.2007
Edit Writing Chapter - increased size of FCK editor. implemented standard text input footer. 7.25.2007
Add/Edit Blog entry - FCK editor bigger. implemented standard text input footer. 7.25.2007
Edit Signature - implemented standard text input footer. 7.25.2007
Forums Edit/post - made FCK editor window wider. Implemented standard text input footer with links for inserting smilies and learning how to insert HTML. 7.25.2007
View Artwork - made keywords linked to google custom search in an effort to promote awareness of the search feature. 7.24.2007
Mod Panel - New moderators panel drop down. Involves CSS changes. 7.24.2007
View Writing Reviews - created new version of view writing reviews page that is one script for powering both rc and pd sides. also added spiffy buttons to this page. 7.23.2007
View Writing - new mod rewrites on writing for pretty urls. also converted view writing page to be one page powered for both rc and pd. Also changed the display of it a bit and added spiffy buttons. 7.23.2007
View Artwork - redesigned 3 buttons for favorites, commenting, and reporting in PD and RC.
Favorites - When viewing an artwork submission on the PD side there is a new AJAX powered favorite button. Aesthetics of this button are still a WIP. I will adjust soon. 7.15.2007
Profile - Link for adding user to buddy list and sending a PM have been moved to the right side of the profile. Adding buddy is now AJAX powered and you can remove the buddy from this page as well. 7.15.2007
