Hello everyone,
I'm self publishing a novel and in order to gain more interest, I'm holding a contest on deviantart.com (www.crystallineessence.deviantart.com/journal/14006538/). Basically, draw a picture of the characters from the story and the winners get free copies of the book. ^_^
Prizes, details, and descriptions of the characters can be found in the journal entry that I linked to. I hope some of you consider entering, there's a lot of room for anyone who wants to participate!
Along with a free copy of the book, you also receive prizes like subscriptions, jewelry, custom art, prints, and journal features.
Here's a summary of the story to see if you're interested:
Cat's Eye Summary: She dreamed of adventure. . . but when Sora is kidnapped by an assassin, she discovers she's not quite ready for it! Dumped from her rich life into a world of thieves, mercenaries, and magic, Sora finds herself hunted by a vengeful sorcerer hot on the assassin's trail. With the help of her Cat's Eye necklace, it falls into her hands to save his life.
Now she must journey with an unlikely band of outlaws to discover the secrets of the Cat's Eye, the mysteries of her past, and just how deep the bonds of friendship can go.
And a link to see the book cover: i14.photobucket.com/albums/a342/TheCrystalMaiden/catseyebookcoveronline.jpg
The first few chapters of the story are also available on my PD account if you want to check it out.
See you there!

I'll definately do this. Free books rock!
Woah, I just realised that's a dismembered guy laying on that raft on the front cover. Quite an adventure indeed.

Cool! Your art is stunning, can't wait to see what you come up with! ^_^ I'm glad you like the cover too, lol, though he's not exactly supposed to be dismembered... I just realized it looks like that. I wonder how many other people got the wrong impression....
But there is a lot of action in the book, so don't worry, you'll get your share of death and gore, haha.

Oooo I like the sound of the book definitely
I think I'll try the contest, should hopefully have enough time (I'm pretty slow with my art, I'm too much of a perfectionist hahah)

Your drawings are beautiful! ^_^ I'm glad you're considering joining in, I'll probably end up pushing back the deadline anyway, lol. It all depends on when I get the book printed.

Thank you
Either way, I've already started a sketch so I'm determined to try and get one in regardless haha
But I'll be keeping an close eye on this thread and deviant art just in case there are any changes

Hmm... I'd certaintly like to try this.
I've got a question, though- the description of crash says nothing about his hair's style or length, but in the references they look fairly similar. Should I go with the reference's hair, or does it not matter so long as it's black?
The book looks quite interesting =]

I went ahead and sent you my response as a note just in case you didn't get a chance to read the forum post. ^_^ Crash's hair falls just around his ears in a longish-cut, and the hair length does matter though it doesn't have to be perfect (I understand the people entering haven't read the book yet, after all.) Go ahead and follow the reference's hair.
Thanks a lot for joining in!

I'd be happy to try it out, even though it's almost over, haha. I was wondering, you know the character Burn. His description says that he's Wolfy. That means that he's kinda of like a werewolf right??
The two entry per Artist kind of confused me. Does that mean that we can only choose two characters to make and enter them?? Or can we make every character that was described and enter them?? I ask because at the start of what the details for the contest are you said to draw one or more characters. But then at the end of that same paragraph you say that entries are limited to two per artist.
