I just got back from seeing this movie, and I thought it was pretty decent, but it could have been way better in some places, and the ending just fell apart. For one thing, towards the beginning, Alice kicks this guy in the face after being captured by some crazed "family" in an abandoned shack, and she kills him instantly, but the family just knocks her out and puts her in a cell instead of flat-out killing her. I know it wouldn't be a movie if they killed her, but that seemed the more likely outcome to me.

Another thing that irked me was I thought this was supposed to be the final movie in a trilogy, but at the end they set it up for yet another sequel. Towards the end when Alice goes beneath the Umbrella facility for the "final showdown," she says somehting like, "It's time to end this," and so I thought some big epic finish was in store, but nope, sequel!! And it doesn't show the helicopter landing in Alaska to deliver the refugees, which would have been more satisfying.

So if the movie was like 10 minutes longer, it should have shown the "last boss" being sliced apart by the laser beams, then Alice plants bombs everywhere and destroys the facility, then it shows the helicopter landing in a prestine Alaska and everyone walks around happy.

But the zombies never face "extinction" at all - the whole rest of the world is still infected at the end of the movie. The movie should've been called Resident Evil: Filler Until the Fourth Movie or something.
