Quick question about writing

I just submitted a bit of old poetry of mine, Ascension. However it's a bit of more unusual fan poetry as it's based on a cinematic in WarCraft 3 which  have noted in the description. Is it all right in poetry despite being based on an existing creation or should I budge it into fanfiction?

I think I'd keep it as original writing, since there's nothing in the actual poem that references Warcraft 3 (like character names and such). If you showed it to someone as is, without telling them it's inspired by Warcraft 3, there's no way they'd be like, "Hey that's from Warcraft 3!" So yeah I'd say it's original writing.

This is a good point. A story can be inspired by a world as long as the characters and storyline are original. However, if you use too MUCH of the world- like it's curture, landmarks, races etc... I think it should be fandom. If it's only inspired by it though, original is ok

Yes I agree this should remain in poetry. You can add something in the description or author's note that says "Inspired by Warcraft" or something to that effect if you'd like.

Brillant thanks for the responses I'm sure the only real hint, bar me pointing it out, is Lich King as I know a lot of people automatically assume there's only one (Heck, I did admittedly till more recently). Again, thanks as it was a bit confusing
