So, there's this boy in my Jazz Class who is the first drummer. [Im the second] I obsess over him more and more every day. I want to ask him out, but Im afraid its too early, knowing we only know eachother a little bit.

I mean, we're friends and all. We're just not that close.

I might just want to give him a hug, because he looks like he really needs one. Thats not going to be anything personal, though.

Ok. Back to the obsessing part. He has the cutest smile and he's a great drummer. There's only one or two problems. To start, I am a freshman, while he is a Junior. Meaning he's about 2 or 3 years older than me. That'd be kind of awkward.

Second, A girl asking a guy out [especially at that age difference] has occured to me as awkward.

What do you guys think?

a guy I can tell you it is REAL refreshing when the girl asks the guy out. Belive it or not we are more nervous then you are. As for age, that isent much of an issue as long as your and his folks have no problem with it...every girl I have date was eather a few years younger or older then me.

[emoticon]   My advice - if those are your only squeemishes about asking him out - go for it!

In my own experience with boys I have only ever been asked out once, though I've had enough relationships.  I have all other times done the asking...  Even the relationship I am currently in was instigated by me.  And as for age difference - It's perfectly normal for the girl to be younger than the guy.  It depends on how old you both are to determine how big the gap is.  In my experience age gaps don't exist - maturity gaps do.

Well, another thing about the age difference is the fact that I skipped second grade [I took a test and apparently I passed it... I dont remember o0] So, he may even be four years older than me. I dont know.

Age is just a number, Blurreh - if you can handle yourself emotionally, then no matter how many years are between you , in either direction..  Well, let's just say that if there's a spark, there's no such thing as love mathematics.  [emoticon]   My boyfriend of five years is also five years older than I am - he was my brother's friend when we were growing up, we travelled in different circles - but the attraction was there.  When I got over my shyness I asked him out and guess what?  It's the best move I ever made.  Don't deprive yourself of a chance at happiness just because you have two different ages in front of you.  Age doesn't say a thing.

Mmk. I might ask him out in time. I guess I should wait first, taking we're just partners in Jazz Band. We aren't that close.
