Hello folks. I apologize for the lack of updates recently. Work's been busy, I've been having troubles with my eyes, and I've been preparing my costume for an upcoming anime convention. I'll be making regular updates again soon. Probably by early June.
Premium Accounts
Our sale of premium accounts has been sluggish. So far we've only had two sales. A friend suggested I lower the price to something like $1.50 per month. If I did this, would you buy a premium account? Thanks for your feedback.
A Few Mods Gone
In other news, we have lost a few moderators. karana kaou has left us on good terms. Her life's been fairly busy and needs to focus on more important things going on in her life. We hope she'll be able to return to the moderator team when things get less busy. Minimaid and EvilBunnySlippers are on temporary hiatus whilst they catch up with the business of life but are still on the staff roster.
A few of our junior staff have been let go for lack of contribution to the team. Some I haven't heard from in months. Perhaps their lives got too busy and they forgot about us
. But others have been online but haven't been modding (and enjoying their premium accounts for free)
Shame on them.
But we do have a couple of stellar junior mods that have been consistently contributing. Big shout-outs to arkillian and cruffins for their amazing contributions this year! Please would everyone give them a big virtual hug
Hope you are enjoying PaperDemon.com. Let me know if there's anything I can do to improve your PD experience

I think we are going good on the Junior mod front. But I think we need more Senior staff. I think that JillV Stars and I will just sort of get by on our own for a couple months until Minimaid and EvilBunnySlippers can come back to help.
As for my eyes, I've been having double vision lately. Almost any time I'm not looking at something close up I'm seeing two of everything. It's intermittent but I'd say 40-60% of the time I am seeing double. I've been having appointments with eye doctors to get the problem diagnosed and then hopefully corrected. It may require vision therapy. Basically what I have is esotropia in distance vision and esophoria in near vision. It just means one of my eyes turns in and doesn't align properly with the object in the distance my other eye is looking at. I've had it for a couple years but it recently got much worse.

So It's a muscle thing? Like, it needs more working out? I'm slightly crosseyed, but its fixed with prisms in my glasses. IT must suck if its a muscle training thing
I hope it gets sorted out Susie!!

I noticed the sudden drop off of mods
I'll do the best I can to help you out though
I'm sorry to hear about your vision though that must be hard to deal with I hope you can get it corrected.

Dare I ask how hard it is to be a senior mod? ^^; I don't really think I should have that kind of responsibility yet, but if you need one, I'll help out :<

Hi everyone!
I wanted to drop in and give you all quick update
I've finally gotten most of my moving plans worked out and it looks like things are going to start settling down in July for me. I'm hoping, once I've got my new place and job worked out, I'll be able to come to PD like the good old days. I'm missing everyone like crazy!
My boyfriend's deployment will be over some time in March (we hope!) and I'm thinking things will calm down even moreso once he's back. As a side note, if anyone would like to send a word of encouragement or a card or anything to anyone in his battallion, I'd be happy to share his address. They're all so thankful for any of your time you could offer!
I'll be sure to keep you all updated with how things are progressing, so I'll be dropping in every now and again. Don't ever hesitate to send me a message!
Thanks to everyone!
~Heidi (karanakaou)

You don't need to make me a mod or anything official, but if there comes a time you need help, you know I'll always lend a hand. xoxoxo
Take care of your eyes... a great eye exercise is to place a PINHOLE a little tiny prick in a piece of paper and for three minutes on each eye, look through the hole, focus on the TV or something. Do this 2-3 times a day for 4-6 weeks you'll notice a world of difference. The eye doctor had me do that for fatigue in my eyes (Causing blurry and double vision) it helps immensely, just a focusing exercise in your eye muscles makes a BIG difference

Thanks for offering to lend a hand.
D, I'll ask the doctor about the pinhole technique when I see him. My double vision isn't caused by fatigue so it may be a different issue. My double vision is around from the first time I wake up and comes and goes throughout the day. I do have a prism in my left lens of my glasses which I've had for a few years. So now I either need to increase the strength of the prism or get vision therapy depending on what the specialist says. I'm basically slightly cross-eyed like Arkillian is.
What freaks me out about it is that I may lose my depth perception. My brother has esotropia which he was born with. He probably had double vision early in his life and at some point his brain started ignoring one of the images. He has no depth perception because he's only seeing out of one eye at a time. And I'm afraid I will at some point lose my depth perception if it doesn't get fixed in time. Kind of scary, don't you think? It probably wont happen, but you know I'm a worry wart.

Well, if it's any consolation, I have depth perception, but it becomes really bad if I don't have my glasses on all the time cause my eyes go cross eyed. It's also bad when you're tired. It crosses really badly.
Mind you, my eye sight is REALLY bad. I'm a -9 perscription in my best eye as well as a prism >.> Laser eye surgery can't fix my eyes. apparently they could get them to a -3.... I haven't been that good sighted since I was 8...

i don't have that much in the way of eye problems, but my grandmother got really bad before her alzthiemers hit. she has no vision in her left eye now and no periphrial in her right. when she still lived on her own, we had to put up big signs with all out numbers on them so she could see to dial. that was back around the time she lost her makeup and I found it in the fridge. ( beginnings of alztheimers) so I can just wish you luck with your eye problem, but I can say if you see anyone starting to forget things alot [like makeup in the fridge(i told her she wanted to look cool and it cheered her up)] please get them to a doctor because my grandma is now in a nursing home and has completely lost her mind. we actually miss her mistaking the present for her childhood because now she doesn't ackowledge anything. she just sits there.
on a lighter note thanks for the appreciation! I know I haven't been that attentive lately due to some senioritis on my part, but I'm striving to do better, so please bear with me for the next month. its graduation in may, but after the 16th I should be back to lurking here all hours of the day.
I'm not streaking, I'm just too sexah for clothes to handle!

That's a mountian out of a mole hill hon. Susie will be fine. I'd say she has exactly what I have which is cured by prisms in the glasses. Your grandmother grew up in a time where they weren't use to what Susie has and couldn't have had it corrected.
Susie- I don't think you have esotropia, or a squint- what I have isn't a squint. Talk to your optomitrist- its not a physical crossing of the eyes, but a translation problem inside the eye. I'm not sure of the full storry, but its something you could grow out of. Just make sure you're having your breaks from the computer. K? :< I don't want you to have crap vision like me XD
