Hello everyone! I've been looking for a writing community to join were I can receive feedback on my stories. I found this site in a search engine and decided to join. I find it easy to use and by quick glance the site looks welcoming. I've been browsing the forums and reading some of the comics and stories submitted as well as peaking at the art gallery. I was surprised to find so many talented people, it is hard not too noticed, and I already have some favorites. I'm not very knowledgeable in anime and some of the fan-fiction here I've never seen. But, that does not mean that I can't appreciate good art and there is plenty of it in PD as well as in RC.
I submitted the first chapter of a story I've been working on for the last two years. I published the story on the AoC forums first and other rolplaying sites in which I am member too. But I'd like to point out that the version I submitted in RC has been edit and changed (for the betterment of the story) from previous versions. The story (Nymph of Derketo) has been a long project of mine, for my personal entertainment, and one that I am very proud off because I feel that I've improved my writing skills. But I'll let you guys be the judge.
The story is derived from the writings of Robert E. Howard. It was first intended as a biography for one of my characters played in the Age of Conan MMO. However, I no longer play the game nor am I affiliated with my former guild, to which I originally wrote the story fore. But I fell in love with the heroine and enjoyed writing the story so much that I feel I must continue writing until I reach an end. I have six chapters written, but only the first chapter has been fully edited. I hope to add the next chapter two soon.
I enjoy writing and telling stories. It has been a hobby of mine since my young years. I've never consider my self good, and I'm always seeking to improve my grammar and writing skills. Only recently have I had the courage to seek an outside audience, other than my friends and gaming buddies, to critic my stories. I have other short stories that I hope to publish in PD but my main focus at the moment is The Nymph of Derketo.
I'm still getting familiar with the site, and maybe this intro should had been a blog, I never intended for it to be this long, but as you can see I like to write -even if it is blabbering. LOL I won't delay this any longer. I just wanted to say I'm glad I found this site and I look forward to meeting its members.

Hi Furboy
Welcome to the community. And I think the long intro is good because it gives us a feel for who you are and what you like. I hope you get the kind of critique you are looking for. I haven't heard too much from our members about how active critiquing is for writing lately. Let me know how it goes.
Let me know if you need any help finding your way around the site
Hope you are enjoying PaperDemon.com. Let me know if there's anything I can do to improve your PD experience

Thank you both for the welcome message.
@Silverbane:
I noticed you are a member of a writers circle, is the group accepting new members, I'd like to join?
@BogusRed:
I can understand people being shy to critic writing because I for one try not to do it. The reason being that as a new writer the only advice I could give would be on spelling and I've been known to make scramble-words my self. LOL I do know how to praise a good story when I see one. As for the mechanics of the site I think the layouts are simple and I shouldn't have any problems finding my way around. Thank you for offering.

Pah. One's personal skill has but little relevance to the validity of their arguments(/opinions). An error, or an unclear piece of wording, or any other kind of mistake is still as much a mistake, is still as unclear, is still just as-erm...-erroneous when you critique it as when the deity literary would.
