This is something I've done on Deviantart, and it seemed like an idea that people may like here, so lets see how it goes!
I've been racking my brain of a suitable gift for everyone, so how about this:- (This was originally and Xmas gift to my art friends)
For anyone that has an account at Paperdemon, if you thumb me 1 pic at a time, I'll give you constructive crit. Tell me the level you want the crit at (like if you know something is wrong- I may know how to fix it, or I'll just avoid pointing it out again)- remembering, I'm NOT a troll when I crit, so I'll list good and bad stuff. I'm not going to run your art down!
This offer is open to everyone that replies to this thread- at the moment, this is indefinitely open
Lastly, please link me a picture that you think needs crit- not one that is perfect cause sometimes even I have issues criting a perfect pic XD Lol. I can usually spot a few things to improve on though even if it's nit picking ^^
So go on- what you all waiting for? ^^ *throws PD love about the place*

Eh...... *brain wrecking for a few seconds*.... that's a new concept O____O So the gift is a constructive criticism? .... I dunno, constructive crit is good and stuff.... but something about it just doesn't sit right with me as a "gift"...... usually it's like gift pic/sketch or something..... but a lot of times criticism (constructive or not) isn't something someone'd jump in joy upon receiving, but more like getting emotionally prepared to see (sort of like opening a suspicious, ticking gift box).

It's a gift cause I am very thourough, and I don't have time to draw
Most people don't know who to go to for art critique, so I'm opening myself up to the world. I don't have to crit everyone at PD, but if everyone wants one, I'll give it. I'm pretty good at it I'm told. I'll tell you good and bad, and if I can, how to fix it. As long as you put effort into your art, there should be no worries from me. I've only ever had one upset person ,and they got upset cause they didn't want crit- they wanted a pat on their back.

Yeah I see (saw your journal on DA too, most people seem pretty positive about it).
But what the heck, I'll give it a go (cracks fingers in preparation). You mind if I link to DA?http://puayen.deviantart.com/art/Road-To-Strength-102221012
Things I already know about this pic: wings are too bright, the upper portion of the trees/leafs are messed up, and the clouds are... let's call them not-quite-finished-yet. I can try returning the favor if you want.

Email Susie if you think this site needs improvements hon. Seriously. She puts in TONES of effort into this site so that people will use it. If you wont use it for a reason that she can fix, then tell her.
bogusred @ paperdemon . com (without spaces)
She checks her emails HEAPS. She's going to be doing alot of updates over the next few months. It may not be an immediate change, but sometimes its nice for her to know why something is better somewhere else so she can tr it in our own way here
BTW- you do thumbs her by the code [thumb 21478] without spaces... like this ![]()
<edit> Commented on the PD version of it cause I had a visual crit to add- one of the many things DA should have but don't >.> Sigh. anyways, I hope it was a help ^^ I tried to address new issues. I wasn't sure of the subject of the picture, so I guessed with my crit. Please feel free to ask questions if I guesed wrong ^^</edit>

Yeah, definitely our dear Bogusred puts a LOT of effort into this. And it IS a beautiful site.... though maybe too beautiful..... people often complains how DA is military bunker-gray and all, but the good thing about that is the website itself is neutral in style and doesn't try to wrestle for attention with the artist's works. The fullview right on the spot thing is also a plus for DA too (Elfwood have implemented that now). Though, yes PD wins in visual crit.
What IS PD intended for anyways? I tried searching up some History or Abouts page here but couldn't find any. The website itself seems to suggest Fantasy-Art-only (like Elfwood), but it seems that all art goes here, like DA.
I'm on DA, PD, and Elfwood, and in terms of user-friendliness, I'd rank them 1) DA (altho I loath the newest iteration), 2) PD, and 3) Elfwood.
One other reason I use DA more is just because I've more friends there and all.... did I get side-tracked? XD But yeah, PD is seriously awesome too, it just needs a bit more members so it's more active...
And uh.... thanks for the crit

PD is more than just fantasy art XD Has anything hand drawn or modeled. No photography, no screen shots etc... It also has writing and comics as well. I think that website is out dated.
Ask Susie if you're curious- I believe PD was an example for her CV of her web skills, but it's also a personal project of her- something for fun. I may be wrong. It's what I gather ^^

Yeah, I gather it's more than just fantasy... but sci-fi stuff just seems quite out of place here among the demon style elayout XD. But yeah, for graphics per se, I'd give PD top ratings. I'll gather a few suggestions and maybe mail Admin BogusRed (hehe, don't think I'm close enough to call her Susie yet).

Aw.. Is it too late for Secret Santa Soozie?
I think I missed you. Yup. I definitely missed you. Darned exams and Christmas present makings and general time-suckers.

Really!?
Yay!
OK. The one I think I'd like critiqued the very most is this one (my newest finished work):
I know you are much better at Photoshopping than am I, so any tips and tricks about using the program would be loverly, since I'm teaching myself with tutorials and such, more than anything. I just discovered the Liquify tool for this one, and am in definite need of practice.
Things I've noticed all by my own self - Her eyes are too high on her head, causing her forehead to look small... And her hands are kinda blurry compared to the rest of it.
But you don't have to respond to this at all, hun. I know you've been busy and sore lately, so I wouldn't be offended.

Where did you get that Idea? I just fool around myself XD Talk to Nathie about photoshop tips and stuff- I'm not very good at that kind of thing. His landscaping is beautiful consistantly. Susie might have a few tips too if you ask her. My pointers are all based on referance book whoring and personal taste in art. I've left a comment, but I'm happy to say that I struggled to nit pick it XD It's a lovely picture hon ^^

I have spoken to Nathie about Photoshopping etc. It's actually one of his tree tutorials I used for the branches and such. But he's been pretty busy lately, and I don't have the heart to poke him too much. Susie's been busy with modding, too, and has already gotten floods of e-mails from me this week from that.
But you ARE more experienced than I am with the program, luv. This is my first major piece playing with brushes and tools and such, and I know that you've done more like that. At least - your Arthur-looking piece was turning out so very beautifull before your rablet kaiboshed on you, that I THOUGHT you had more practice than I. With my little experience this piece took me wayyyyy too long.
I'm working on the next one now, though!
Thanks SO much Ark for your trouble. I really really appreciate it. I'll reply to the actual critique when I get home later.

Test =P only cause Ark asked me too
"...Then he used his fight money to buy two of every animal and put them on a boat and beat the crap out of them! And from that point forward any time a bunch of animals were together it's called a 'Zoo'!"

Gah- having to use IE- Firefox isn't letting me comment T.T
I play by ear most of the time with digital. I'm terrible with colour choice. Most of the time, I reserch effects on the net and learn that way. I still stab in the dark though. I might havve more practise, but I'm stil not that great at it XD

We were all having this problem, Ark, at least I think so. I had it going on all day yesterday as well as most of today. It's better now, though.
I told Susie about it and it looks like she managed to get it working again.
