Blackwingeddragon, I live in the US. Ohio, to be exact. And now more than ever, the US has no money to be throwing my way for college. :/ Thank you George Bush, thank you Iraqi conflict/war/invasion/gimmeyourlunchmoneybullying or whatever they're calling it nowadays.
I'd suggest studentawards.com (not scholarships.com, but you an still give it a go) -- they have scholarships with general North American scholarships (were both Canadians and Americans are eligible) and also international scholarship s(pretty much any first world country, States included obviously).
I would have even suggested trying to apply for Canadian colleges, so you could take advantage of the bursaries and stuff (Canadian colleges are apparently really great for helping their students to get through the year -- if you find yourself short on cash you cantalk to a finacnial guidance officer or something and they can help you figure out expeneses and even help you get a job on campus if need be), but you've missed the equal consideration date by nearly a month; meanign you won't be even looked at for highly competive programs.
But there's still a ton of options for you -- like I said you can work while you're going to college, take a year off completely so you can work full time, or maybe improve you're average back in highscool while working partime (be a part tiem highscool student and work full time -- but I don't know what the rules are in the states about that though, in Ontario when can stay in highschool til we're 21, and we can also be part time students after we've graduated).
Either way, work like crazy if you can during the summer. And I just realized though, that despite the fact that I keep saying "go get some work" that the usual jobs that would have been ideal (ie. factory work since it pays high) it might not be possible for you to find work based on where you live, and what's available to you.
