SPOILER WARNING
I will be discussing some plot devices and such..
First reaction.... Woa! They really upped the naughty-factor in this movie. The inuendo was pretty funny at times. Lots of cussing words like: shit, ass, asshole, pussy, bitch and even an implied F-Bomb. Devistator's 'decepti-balls' was the best gag of the show. However, far too many people brought their children to this movie. Seriously....tons of kids under 10 years of age. (Movie is rated PG-13) Oh, sure it's the parent's peroggative...however I remain perplexed why movies are blamed for certain sociatal issues when parent s persist in not checking ratings and content of the entertainment they expose to there children. Well, enough of that...
The new autobot selection was interesting - there was some more screen time for all, but again - I wanted more! RC, Ironhide and a few others are almost unseen in comparison to Optimus and the 'Wayans' Autobot Twins. And the Decepticons get all the dialogue....
Bumblebee's voice is gone again! To me, making Bumblebee's dialogue a collection of goofy movie/music clips, groans and whimpers dumbs him down to a dog - a pet for the lead human character. It takes something from him. Not cool. Stop making Bumblebee in to a pet!
The two 'Wayan's Brother' Autobots ( that are causing a controversy due to their 'hip hop' mannerism and speech patterens - One has a gold 'tooth' - its pretty rediculous) were...simply comic relief. I get it, but really... I would have been just as happy welcome more Autobots of note from the original cast. Blaster and Perceptor, perhaps. Many of the autobots or the original cartoon had this comical kinda of comradery. No need to make NEW autobots to accomplish this.
Not very impressed by the fact that they killed Optimus again... (Then brought him back AGAIN!) We went through that before you jerks!!
Soundwave as a space satelite! Cool...but could have made the voice just a little closer to the old one? PLEASE! That voice was hypnotic! *pout*
She 'shaky camera' bullshit was still present in this sequel, but I think there was more traditional 'stationary' cinementography between the shake-up crap to keep me from getting a mirgain. However, the battle sequences between the Bots was still pretty obnoxious.
The drama and destruction was certainly turned WAY up. I think I blieved Shia's character much more this time around. However his 'sex-pot' girl friends damn lip gloss never faded. Tch! Nor did her eye-liner and mascara. *gag*
They've certainly created a very different setting for the Autobots/Decepticons. I wonder if a third movie will come about? Will the struggle become intergalatic? the story arc certainly can't stay earth-bound. Wait...I know it CAN..but it SHOULDN'T.
I was entertained by this movie MUCH more than the first. I began to give a damn about Shia's character - and enjoyed the increased screen time of both Decepticon and Autobot. (More please) Loose the humans and it will all go smooth. TRUST ME - the bots can hold their own - they don't need humans to make the story work. That is, unless the writers don't have it in them to make the bots hold their own with out human support?
Anyhow.... Check it out. Share your thoughts.
