Hmm...that is a problem. What I usually do to get some ideas for emotion is I watch a movie that's on the dramatic side or listen to some music that has some meaning in it or I read stories to get the juices flowing. Hope I helped out good luck! [emoticon]

From a writing perspective (since I can't draw to save my life) I listen to sad music.  I also imagine a time when I felt the way a character felt and try to remember what that was like and go from there.  For example if the character is sad, I think about the times when I've lost those close to me, if the character is happy I think about when I graduated from college etc.  I don't find that situations have to be similar, only the emotions.  Another thing I do is talk about what I want the characters to feel, sometimes an outside perspective is helpful.  I hope that helps!

You're mulling too much- that's your problem. You either make use of your depressed emotion to draw a sad picture, draw a picture with something with a BIG grin, or just say 'screw that' and go and have a brilliant day when you don't think of your sadness. Don't mull. Either make use of that emotion, or cure it. Sleep also helps- you may have a lack of it at the moment

I aggre with arkillian. Use your emotion to its fullest! Sometimes it makes the most magnificent work, expecially for writing. As for the drawing aspect, goto google and type in something that interests you, like, for me it would be anime. There are usually awsome pics..and it either inspires you to draw, or makes you jelous, and you try to draw as good as them and better. I hope that helped

*nods* Lack of sleep is a killer for artists- It's ok to be a little drunk (infact, you can some up with some damn interesting stuff cause your mind doesn't hold back on pics it doesn't think would work [emoticon] ), but narcolepsy is only good for getting to sleep.

Another suggestion, is to fall in love with art again. I'm assuming that this is where you are haveing the problems mostly? (since you haven't posted any art) Maybe you need to try something like drawing a scene from your story (I do this ALOT), or drawing from a picture you like, and spend AGES makeing it as perfect as you can, or sit there in front of your desk and mull a picture in your head till it forms into something inspirational to you. I can spend HOURS mulling over a way to draw pictures, making holes in the page with lines that don't fit my mood.

Give it a go anyways. The big thing is- don't stop drawing, or you'll lose your eye for detail.

wow...never thought about it that way...as for not posing art, heh, i have drawings, and i keep most everything i draw in a drawer of my desk, unfortunately, computers...hate me...i haven't a clue how to get my art from hand to internet...my printer isn't even hooked up...(i fail computer works numerous times...) but i mainly have ideas with people in them, unfortunately, i suck at drawing human figures...that's another problem of mine, i get easily discouraged by failure... Scanner hon [emoticon] They are dirt cheep for ok ones. Just don't make the mistake I did and get a hand held XD Aincent and they never line up right. Aim for one that does colour A4 flatbed and up to 600 DPI. If you ever print them- 600dpi at A4 is how I save mine, and they print perfectly on A3. [emoticon] Good advice there XD

*Christmas prezzy* [emoticon] If it can't hock up to your computer, then its no good. I suggest Xmas prezzy, or borrow a friends. Some Libuarys in New Zealand have scanners. That may be an option. That, or internet cafes. That, or a digetal camera. Take photos during the day so you don't use the flash, and do it on a dull day [emoticon] That'll work ^^
