Does anyone here like him? Is he good or evil. I think he's good, and he's so cute in an adultish way. [emoticon]

I like him, but only in a 'he a cool character' sort of way. Oh- and Alan Rickman should be given a medal- he is an AWESOME actor ^^

Of course, he's evil!  And that's why I absolutely love him!  [emoticon]   My favorite character in the books.

Aaaah.

Severus Snape is not, in any way, shape, or form, evil. He's mean, he's nasty, he's biased, and he holds wicked grudges, but he isn't evil. Lucius Malfoy is evil. Bellatrix Lestrange and Lord Voldemort are evil. Snape is not evil. He can't be. I embellished on this theory in my Harry Potter topic (in the Writing forum), but all I'll say here (because there's no [SPOILER] tag thing in the topic heading) is that he's not evil. He's definitely a good guy. He just doesn't like Harry because he didn't like James.

I don't especially like Snape; I think he's cool, but he can be really frustrating.

You're saying Snape isn't evil?  Have you read the latest book?  He commits a pretty evil act near the end, if I recall correctly.

Hmmm...I just read your Harry Potter topic and you made some points that I hadn't really thought of before.  Wow.  I guess it is possible that Snape is a good guy afterall. You've obviously put a lot of thought into it.  Darn, I liked the thought of him being pure evil. [emoticon]   Oh well, just have to wait and see.

I'm just now reading the Harry Potter books (I know under what rock have I been under?  Well that rock is called university LOL).  Any who my uncle randomly gave me the 5th book, which I'm in the middle of and loving it.  I've asked for the rest for Christmas so everyone cross their fingers and hope that I've been a good girl and Santa will come through for me!

I like Snape in the movie's  you guys are right, the actor is awesome.  I think he's a very interesting character in the book.  I have no idea what he's up to, which is the kind of character I love to read and think about.  I wish I could write a character like him...sigh, if only I was a talented writer...

Who can blame Sanpe for hating Harry though? He's-
* In a different house
* Jame's son (did you read what James put Snape THROUGH?)
* Has a past that makes Harry not like him
* Has to teach with a living legend around
* Trying to side with a moron like Drako ( XD ) prob cause of the promise
* HArry DOESN'T help himself getting into trouble so much
* Harry TOTALLY violates Snape's trust with going in his pensive X(
* Harry is loved in every shape and form, and Snape isn't
* Harry was using his brains to ace the potions class- like... WRING HIS NECK!!

With living in Snape's shoes, wouldn't you hate Harry too? I mean, I agree, I don't think he is evil. There is alot of hatred, distrust, and isolatation. I think Dumbledore would be the only person Snape could trust (this is if he doesn't turn out evil), and I bet it killed him to kill the big D.

Snape gets it bad- its no wonder he doesn't have a sunny disposition. I can't think of any reason for him to smile, really.

(looks down shamefully at feet) yes, I'm skipping ahead but I fully intend to back track and read the others too since I'm enjoying this one so much.  I've seen the movies and like them quite a bit also (although I know they leave out a lot).

Emmet- READ THEM. The movies cut out 3/4 the book. Rowling is very good at filling the book with stuff. Not all of it is good (death party, House elves campain, Harry growing back his arm cause of Lockhart getting rid of it...), but there is alot of great sceens that make alot of sence that are missing (so SAD that there was no explination of WHO the maurauders are and why they were called what they were called)

Emmet, if you haven't finished the fifth book yet, I know it will be hard, but you really ought to STOP and read the first four!! Imagine reading the last chapter of a book before reading the actual book. You know who's still alive at the end, people's relationships with each other, and who emerges as the evil bad guy... it's no fun, if you know how everything goes in the end, to try and read the beginning. Half of the Harry Potter Experience is not knowing what the hey's going on! I mean, take this forum, for instance. If I somehow knew what happened in the seventh book, I wouldn't be able to join in the fun of convincing everyone that Snape is not evil (believe me, it's true!), or else I'd have to spoil it.

Maybe you don't care, though. [emoticon] Maybe you like having books ruined for you. Maybe you don't care at all about the spirit of Harry Potter. [emoticon]

jk. [emoticon] But, seriously, you should read the first four. Makes for a much better experience.
