. I'm not fat. I'm rather slender but I just don't feel comfortable in a two piece. I like one-piece swim suits. Actually, slenderness is part of my problem. I don't have enough "goods" at the upper part of my body to hold a two-piece top in place.Last edited by BogusRed on Dec 15, 2005 4:10 pm. Total edits: 1.

I ALWAYS have an over shirt on when I swim. LOL, I don't think anyone needs to see my big butt that much
I have seen some nice one piece suits in Fredrick of hollywood that weren't to revealing but again they are pricey.

yeh, i can sympathize, i hate two piece, if i wanted to wear that then i'd wear panties and a matching bra....NAKEDNESS!!! right anywho...it sucks on my part too cause i love the water. BUT!!! *takes determined pose* I HAVE A SOLUTION! i jump in with what ever i'm wearing at the time
pants and all!...granted...after five minute you better be pretty close to shore since it weighs you down so much.....one word of advice...don't wear your shoes in too....heh...bad results
...as far as where to bye a one piece...i can only find them at shields...so sad...what is this world coming to?

My mom told me a story about what happened to my aunt during a water skiing trip. She was wearing a two-piece suit and had gone out water skiing when she fell off the skis and plunged into the water. By the time she stood herself upright, she realized that something very very important was missing. Her bathing suit bottoms were GONE!
Eventually someone found them and gave them to her. However, the lesson is clear; when going water skiing or going to the beach where you plan to interact with tumultuous waters, wear a one piece!
Now, I thought I covered my bases last year when I went to the beach wearing a one-piece bathing suit. I was wrong. I was hit by a huge wave that swirled me around and finally deposited me on the beach in a graceless face plant into the sand. I struggled to pick myself up when I realized the front of my suit had slipped down and I was hanging out. Mortified, I yanked my suit up and spent the rest of my day residing on my blanket.
So, from then on I have always worn a t-shit over my one-piece in order to protect myself from massive embarrassment, plus offer more protection from suburn (and to protect the eyes of other people, haha).
The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.

I understand you, Susie. I'm thin but I hate 2-piece bathing suit also. My problem is I have too much "goods". Actually, I hate how I look in every way known to woman. I don't like how I look in a 2-piece because I kinda have the shape of someone twice my age. All my life all I ever wanted was to be flat in every part of me. Kinda like staying 8 forever. lol I can't wear juniors clothes because I'm way too curved for them.
I saw this really nice shirt in G+G this September. I loved it and just couldn't not have it. G+G is a juniors store and I usually can't shop there. Oh well. I needed this top. So, I got the damn thing and wore it to my first day back at school. I was SO happy and I really thought everyone would like it. Guess what the first comment I got was? One of the moms told me I looked like a *beep* pole dancer and that I needed to get my *beeeeep* out of that ugly shirt because I looked like I was going to fall over. Man, I cried all day. The same thing happened the one time I wore a 2-piece. I just can't. I look like a freak.
So don't feel bad, Susie. At lease no one is going to tell you you look like a stripper. *hugs* I look like I weigh 20 pounds more then I do because I LIVE in jeans and a loose T-shirt. When I go swimming, I wear a one-piece with a skirt. lol

Truthfully, I prefer two pieces, but the same goes for me as well BR. I feel that two pieces dont give too much confidence or assurance, I seriously feel like I have to hold onto it constantly so that it doesn't fall. And heck if I don't. Plus I always wear a big loose t-shirt that covers me up to my knees -ehem- I steal my brothers t-shirt -ehem-. He always brings one with him, and he is pretty built so he doesn't need it, right?
I just like two-piece bathing suits because I think they look pretty. I dont know. One pieces are good with me too though.
As for the problem with finding them, I actually have no trouble finding them at all, I find a lot of cheap and pretty ones at my mall in Aeropostale, D.E.B, Rave, and places like that. I dont know... maybe its just my mall.
Finally, for the 'too much'/'too little' issue, I myself have a bit too much, but I am fine with it. You guys are perfect the way you are. So dont fret.

themusicdied, I had that problem when I was young too, I developed at barely 11 and I went from flat to a size C almost over night. My best freind's mom was telling me to get a breast reduction when I was 12 *sigh* I'm proportioned right now but alas it's because my butt got bigger too
I think I remember seeing some almost decent one piece suits at wally world last summer Susie but I might be thinking about the swim shirts from there, I don't have the best of memories
lost_kitsune, I LOVE your plan
jump in fully clothed, SCORE!!!!!!

I'm kind of opposed to swim suits in general. Up until I went to college I had kind of grown up in them because I was on a competative swim team. I think I'm permenantly sick of them. Of course I'd give anything to have the body I had then back now, which is ironic because back then I thought I was fat (all 106 pounds of me!). Let's just say I weigh a bit more then that and a lot of it is in my old woman boobs LOL.
If I do wear a swim suit, its usually a 2 piece simply because it hides my belly fat better. I know that sounds weird, but honestly it does. In a 1 piece, my belly pokes out and you can see it but in a two piece, it sits comfortably and doesn't hang over. Weird.

I think soon they won`t cover anythin...
Well I Hate my body and my figure !
I have long and trained legs, but my belly is just horrible...And I can`t do anything about it!
So I don`t feel comfortable in 2=piece swimsuit...And then what`s the difference between underwear and swimsuit? The fabric? Gods,I will never understand people....
So I prefer 2-piece swimsuits ,but I look horrible in those! So i just wear my 2-piece,but with T-shirt on!
Sometimes I`m jelous to guys! They don`t have this kind of problem...

I think it's a good idea to spend a little money on a good swim suit. I like Speedo. They make attrative one pieces with varied styles and the fit well for large and small busts.
They are more expensive. But ask youself; is paying more worth the comfort and security of a well made one piece swim suit. I say yes.

Well I kind of got to thinking about this topic, and the more I thought about it, the more it made me sad. Most of us (myself included) seem to be ashamed of our bodies. Many stated that they always wear a t-shirt over their swim suits. I wish we could all just be proud of what we look like. Some of us our toned, some of us are flabby, but that's just how we are. I know that for me, it doesn't matter how hard I work out, I will always have some flab. Can't get rid of those genes that make my tummy permanently covered with a layer of fat infront of the muscle. Too bad I can't live up to my own advice.
It's true, I'd love to just put myself out there and say, "Hey, I'm not much to look at, but here I am and I'm okay with it." But I'm not. There will always be the crude comments from people like, "Ewww, look at that whale! Put some clothes on, gross!" So I will continue to be a coward and hide.
I've tried working out and losing weight but some things won't change. It doesn't matter if I do thousands of crunches or none at all. The only change is I can feel my abs harden but you can't see it. I will always have a layer of fat there (I guess to make it easier to breed or something. Heaven forbid I should ever reproduce though LOL).
So here I am back to where I started, wishing I didn't care about my figure but knowing that I always will. *sigh* Does anyone have some chocolate? JK

They are designed for competitive swimmers which is probably why they work so well. In competive swimming, a suit should basically hold all the "goods" in tightly to decrease the drag or friction between a body and the water. This can help cut 10ths or 100ths of a second of a swimmer's time which can make a huge difference in some races. It's also a protective measure because, take it from me, there's nothing more embarrasing then diving off the blocks into the water during a race and having your suit slide over to expose a butt cheek or worse a breast. Its happened to me more then once, but you kind of get over it since it happens to almost everyone who swims competively.
What did I do when it happened? Kept swimming. The embarrassment was nothing compared to the tongue lashing of an angry coach *cringe*
