Forum Moderators...
I've basically cleaned up a lot of the core code for the forums and have been working on a few little new features for it. One of them being Jr. Moderators. The way it works is that I can assign different people moderation privilages in one or many of the forums.

The forums are getting active enough that the Mods and I really don't have the time to moderate everything in the forums. Anyone interested in being a Jr. Moderator? By being a Jr. Moderator, you get the following privilages:
  • Bragging rights
  • A special symbol/color next to your username (I haven't decided on a symbol yet)
  • Get to lay down the law of the land in your forum/forums
  • You'll be able to move topics from your forum to another if they are unrelated to your forum or should be in another forum.
  • Rename topics to more appropriate titles
  • delete double posts
  • lock dead topics
  • edit peoples posts to take out profanity and what not
  • access to the Mods only forum.
There are some requirements to being a Jr. Moderator:
  • You must be a fair, polite, and honest person.
  • You'll need to understand the basics of how to navigate an internet forum.
  • You must be someone who's arround enough to moderate. Like, be around a few times a week to go through the posts in your forum.
If you wish to be a Jr. Mod, just reply to this topic letting me know which forum or forums you'd like to moderate, or if you'd like to create a new forum in which you'd moderate. If you are going to suggest a new forum be made, it must be one that would be useful. So don't suggest something really obscure. You becoming a Jr. Moderator is subject to my approval.

There can be more than one Jr. Moderator per forum! I'd actually like to have maybe two or three people moderate the General Discussion forum since it's the most active forum.
About the PD Store...
I realized recently that selling artwork submitted to me for the PD store probably isn't such a good idea so I've removed all of the artwork and notified the three artists and the fourth that recently submitted something to me for the store. The problems are as follows:
  • If someone submits artwork to the store that is plagiarized or has copyrighted material, I could lose my store, or worse, get sued. [emoticon]
  • When premium accounts are offered later this month, those that make purchases in the store can get a free membership depending on what they buy. But the pricing gets super confusing with artwork from members because PD only gains half the profit from those sales. It makes things much simpler if I just say something like "Buy any one of these items and get a one month free subscription." I still have to go through the store and make all of the prices of products the same so that I can advertise this.
  • Of the four people that submitted artwork to me, only one of them had the means necessary to manipulate the images in the product templates. Which meant I had to do all of the image preparation for the others (although I didn't get that far with one person's artwork). I don't have the time to really do this or to keep up the store and that's not fair to the artists who want to sell their work in the PD store.
So instead I've come up with an alternative solution. CafePress has an affiliate program. Meaning if you sign up for a Cafepress shop, PD can advertise and link to YOUR own Cafepress shop and we'll both get money from the sales. You can open up a shop for free by the way.

When I get the chance, I will make new products in the store with the new good demon and bad demon mascots so that they can be sold in the store and bought for a premium membership.

Hmm...  Yuuki's right.

I pushed 'post reply' from the main page in the Red Curtain and it sent me to the PD main page instead of to the posting box.

EDIT!!!

Oops.  I put this in the wrong forum topic.  It's meant to be under Yuuki's post in the area where you apologised for the forums being down, etc.

My respose to this post:  I would love to help out by being a Jr. Mod, but I don't spend a lot of time in the forum area of this site (except to check up on important updates) so I don't think I'd be much good.  [emoticon]

I spend LOTS of time everywhere else, though.....

Tho you know my computer skills. I type, I thought I knew how to scan art, and I can post a reply. Well, sometimes. lol But as I said, if you find you need someone I'm here to help. ^_^

Well Minimaid since you have been here so long and spend a lot of time on other parts of the site, would you be interested in becoming a full on Moderator? We were looking for a third.

Katie! What? you aren't fair, polite and honest?

I would like to be a moderator jr...I haven't been a member on PD for a long time but i think i'm here often enough...I'm hooked you see!!!  And i have the required qualities! [emoticon] I'd like the general discussion forum since i participate often...

I don't know it its a good idea but here and there, i've noticed some people asking advice or just having problems that they want to talk about in their life in general. Maybe it could be a good idea to make a forum for this purpose...If it interest you Susie, i'd love to be the moderator for this forum. [emoticon]

Please could you consider me as a forum mod, BogusRed? I'll be really good, promise! [emoticon]

I've also got experience as a forum moderator, I've been one on three other sites.

Any forum is fine with me, but I'd prefer a more popular forum, like General Discussion. [emoticon]

Can I also make a suggestion for the colour beside a forum mod's username? You haven't used green yet, and I really like green! [emoticon]

Katie! What? you aren't fair, polite and honest?

Well, perhaps I'm honest and somewhat polite but I am in no way fair. Look at how I had made you size my art for me. No friend would treat another friend like that. I should have figured it out myself or not bothered anyone.

No! You weren't bothering anyone. Katie don't think that. I offered to help you and the others that needed it because I know not everyone knows how to prepare their images or has the software to do so. I didn't want to descriminate because of that. But I offered to do something that I really didn't have the time to do. So it's my own fault for spreading myself too thin.

But I still shouldn't have let someone else do work that should have been mine. I know how I feel when half of the people in my classes try to suck of all of my homework that takes me forever to do and then turn it into my teachers like they spent hours doing it. I should never expect someone to spend time doing something that should have been done on my time and then turn it in like I did it all. So in that, it was my fault. And besides, everyone spreads themselves too thin from time to time. [emoticon]

If you need more Jr. Mods, I can give it a shot if you want. I know how to go through forums and all as long as I don't have to do anything too complicated [emoticon] I know somewhat of the how's and why's but as I've said before I'm not to bright with the major computer functions [emoticon] and I tend to give what I do know my own names [emoticon] Another thing you'll want to consider is I'll be going MIA around March cause I'm going HOME *Happy Dance* but I love this site too much to be gone too long [emoticon] Any way I don't care which forum if you want me to be a JR. mod, just where ever you need the help Boss Lady [emoticon]

I'm a little late again.  I would LOVE to be a full-on moderator.  I am always interested in helping you with the site, BogusRed.  I might need a little heads up on what to do, though, as this is the only website I've ever been hooked to.  Then agaain, I can ask my brother for assistance...  He creates and maintains websites as his 'stress relief'.

But yeah, I'd be interested.  And my goodness am I ever honoured you even asked me!

After a long week, this is the best thing I've been able to read.

If you need any help you know you can always ask me, I havent be on in a few days due to my lack of computer access (When my tax refunds come in Im buying my own) and I am one of the oldest members here, so I wouldent mind being a Jr. Mod in the Recent Events/Political section. (Its my favorite section anyways.)

Now that I check these forums regularly, I don't mind moderating a forum or two.  I'm fine with any that are currently listed, so if there are still unmoderated forums, I'd be happy to be moderating one.

I can give being a JR. Mod a try. I'm around often enough to keep an eye out. Maybe being the Jr. mod for the music or art forum which ever one is free. And as for navigating the forums...I know the basics as long as it isn't recoding anything [emoticon] I should be good to go lol [emoticon]
