I know that Bogusred, Minimaid, and myself are offering our pencils to anyone that would like a character drawn (Or picture)

Who else is? And what are your prices (and currency!!) I often will pay people to draw me a picutre, but don't know who are selling.

I'll go first-
I'm only offering character portraits as I am SPENT for time, but will put as much effort as needed into a character drawing with what ever you want them to wear. My price is $20 US- but this is a character picture with as much detail and colour as you want. There will be extra if I need to post a print out, but I will e-mail a high res. The backgrounds will all be simple ones unless I feel like putting something special in at the time [emoticon]

Some examples of character sketchs are thumb thumb thumb

I'm offering commissions right now, too.
This link contains a list of all the stuff I can do.  Prices have to be emailed for, but I can tell you that black and white digital sketches start out at $10. The finish product, if it's digital, is emailed @ a high resolution for proper printing (360dpi).

My next thing I'm considering doing are character sketchbooks for people over the summer, which would be lots of fun  because I absolutely love sketching.  If intrested in  this, feel free to contact me to discuss about getting a project started. [emoticon]

I don't enjoy doing fan art commissions these days mainly for the fact that I have a LOT more fun working directly with the character's owner. :\  But eh, I'll do them if the idea's fun enough.

Good idea with the fanart stuff- as much as its cool to draw somthing alot of people reckonise, it just doesn't mean as much, and you can't talk to the origanal artist to make it perfect [emoticon] I am however curious about the moleskin sketch book- that's an interesting idea! So, its a sketch book with a heap of sketches in it of a subject?

Yep, that's usually the case. The commissioner will come up with themes to be rendered based around their own characters (maybe sometimes your own- Ive been commissioned to render my own original character once), or just random people and it's enough to fill the sketchbook; their own personal artbook.

Moleskines are higher than average, but I choose them for this particular project because they are formal, well-binded, weather, resistant, and the paper is nice. Plus, I'm notorious for losing my sketchbook cover after the first week; this wont happen with a Moleskine! [emoticon]

Woot- sounds interesting ^^ s it expensive? It doesn't mention on your page. also, when you say sketches of people, this is a small sketch book? Or is it reasonably sized? Do you draw other things besides people?

Hello there! I also do comissions but the price is not really firm, so I try to negotiate with buyers and make all the pricing fair. Most finished works start out around $8.50. E-mail me personally for details. I will be putting more information up at my page, regarding comissions, but would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
Look forward to working for ya!

I do commissions. I hadn’t really figured out a price, tho. Any ideas, Arkillian? I hear you're really great for helpful advice. I was thinking about $3-$5 for line-art and $7-$8 for a full color. I'm a sad excuse artist so I thought that would be good. Any thoughts?

You're kidding right? I can give advise on art, but as for commissions, I've never done one ^^; Although I can proudly say that I do have a guy that wants me to do lineart + inking for a roleplaying core book he's doing- if only I'd QUIT BEING SICK and find free time to meet up with him ^^;

What currency you dealing in? Also, it depends on how much you're putting into the picture. I suggest doing a few freebees to show people how much you would put in- I'm not saying that you don't put enough into your fanart or personal pictures, but you'll put a different kind of effort into a commission cause its not something you know. It'll also give you some practise, and you can try something out of your norm- unless you are only going to do fantasy/ fanart- that limits you.

Umm yeah- its up to you how much $8 gives you in a drawing- is it a portrait style or head shot like you do quite often? Is it a full body picutre? I think you should start at $10 atleast for a lineart, whether it be a 3/4 or full bodied pic (I'm sure the customer would want a full pic) depending on your confidence. Don't cut yourself short though. I've talked to some Kiwi artists, and they said that I was cutting myself short with charging $20 NZ for a full colour, which is why I've changed it to American currency. Most of the net people work off US dollars anyways [emoticon]

So yeah- that's my advise ^^; I hope it helps- there isn't alot I can say about costing for art. Seriously- when you start off, I think any price will be good just to get experiance and the word out. After that, name the price and see if people come crawling for more *shrugs*

Evilmonk- What are you selling with $8.50? I mean most of your pics are full on linearts that look like they take a while. You may want to specify a few prices for standard requests like Full body A4 pic lineart/colour etc.. [emoticon] It's nice to make it TBA, but approximates are good too :nods:

Yeah. Thats why I like to talk to folks first, and not keep the pricing so strict. Extremely high detail works would come with a little price increase but not much really. I don't think I'll ever charge more than $10.00 (US) for a drawing. I like to draw that much, and there is a bit of comprimise or pride involved in that people are ALLOWING me, trusting me with their visions, or feeling, or characters. I try to respect that those mean a great deal to the creators. At the same time I try to look at what could be better done with 10 bucks. By keeping the price down I feel I am respecting their "pockets" as well. They could choose to spend that Ten dollars anywhere, but they choose to spend it on my works. Besides, it's just a hobby. A side thing for a tiny little bit of extra money. It makes me feel good and I could always use the extra practice. To each his own I suppose. [emoticon]

Thanks very much, Arkillian! ^_^ Nah, you're good at all that jazz. I'm not an advice-giver in any way. I can't even keep myself in a strait line let alone anyone else. [emoticon]

I always put everything I've got into my art. It may not turn out as good as some other people's art but I can honestly say I try as much as the next person. On average I spend about 5-8 hours on a full-color and about 1-5 hours on a line art depending on how much detail goes into it. So, really for me I'd only be covering my own supplies. ^_^ But hey, I've got to start some place. [emoticon]

Good on you- I know alot of people that think an hour is alot of time for a picture. A FULL picture. Just make sure you push yourself to draw something you normally couldn't in every picture. Get lots of referance material,a nd books. I have a small libuary of great referance books on things I'm not to great at. You know- hands, feet, legs, arms, torso, back, butt, face..... *giggles* Seriously. It helps alot. expecially when you look back at year old art and go 'I'd never do THAT kind of mistake!!' and feel great that you've progeessed :B

Evilmonk:- I suppose its how much perfection you alow in the picture- maybe $10 is ok if you're pulling alot of the ropes. If who ever is paying you is fine with that, then cool [emoticon]   Me personally, I couldn't do a drawing without knowing the subject quite well to how they'd look/act/ react or what ever to a situation. This requires alot of liasoning with the person that is commishing you, and several redraws till the person is happy. That's what my $20 US gives [emoticon]   Hopefully anyways. I usually want something specific with a commish too, but that's mostly cause who I'd have drawn has alot of depth that can come out in a picture. In the end, $10 is fine if your happy with that. It's seriously no judge on how much you love art (I'm addicted to it- litterally!),but if you want to sel it cheeper then your a charitable person [emoticon]

Thanks! I know what you mean. ^_^ If for nothing else it takes you hours to see all the mistakes sometimes. Refrences, hmm? Alright, I'll give that a try. I usually just kind of work from my head but I really should study the hman body a little more. There's only room to improve, no? [emoticon]

Yeah, I draw because I love it also. But, I'm going to be 15 soon. I work 2 jobs, do highschool 5 days a week and college on the weekends. I'm so booked all the time going to school r making money to go to school that I don't have a lot of time for art. So, if I could make a little bit off my art then I could quit my one job and draw a lot more. I figured it's a win win situation. [emoticon]

It's not really about the art, but more about drawing something for someone. The money is nice to get to make up for lost time- you can do it at cost. Art supplies do cost [emoticon]

-It can be; I usually see $75 USD charged for a sketchbook of pencil drawings and saw this reasonable as the minimum price.  I usually run an auction for this but if one were to commission me, I'd probably charge them $75 + another $75 if they wanted some color (nothing intense, just colored pencil).

-The small sketchbook is a reasonable size of 4x6inches (from what I recall, about 8cm x 12cm? but there are "standard" sized moleskines avalible if the commissioner wanted that. I aimed for the smaller one because most sketchbooks tend to be erotic in nature (but not all), so the commissioner might want something they can keep inconspicuous.

-I draw whatever the commissioner wants me to. If they wanted a book of live studies or landscapes from around my area, that's fine, too.  As long as, project depening, they provide a good source of refrences, I draw anything for them.

Letsee... That would cost me a meer $120 NZ approx with the exchange rate about as it is... I may pass on it for now ^^; The exchange rate from NZ- US is getting better though. US use to be double. The euro is still approx triple though *cries*

I don't do commission's first because I'm not yet good enough in my eyes (I have alot to learn before I start making people pay for my stuff) , second I feel guilty about charging people it makes me feel reeeeal bad for some reason and third I wouldn't know how much to charge to me a full colored pic for ten bucks seems pricey to me ( heh I'm cheap!! :p  ) So I just do requests like that angel guy I just did and a few random chibi's for a few random people lol.

That really is a shame that you're so down on yourself hon- Alot of the faults in your pictures are merely cosmetic ones that are dissappearing with every pic you post- seriously. There are people out there with terrible styles that are earning #$%@ loads of money. I think you could sell your art. If you don't want to start high, then that's fine. I don't think you should go for free. It feels good to know someone would pay you money for a picture. Perhaps you're another person that should try doing some freebees to get your confidence up then go for the real thing. I suggest it- you put alot of detail in you pictures, and that's alot of kudos. Most people I know don't do that.
