It's nothing to do with 'sucking at it'- you learn as you go on. It doesn't matter how smart you are- if you don't know what A4 is, then comparing it is useless tillyou know what it is. The beauty of life- learning [emoticon]

A-4, Letter , lee ,and even Bar

There are so many different ways to measure paper size. I work in the printing industry and it drives me nuts. Thats just the size, then you have the paper weight, text, index ,cover. It just goes on and on.

I will tell you this thou. only the good ole American Standard puts the measurments right  there for you. 5x7,11x17. see how easy.

Don't let me get started on the whole HB,2B,4H pencil thing...

Ok I'm bias on the metric thing. But why should we learn somthing new even if its better. If it aint broke don't fix it.

Oh yeah, I'm feeling better now , I'm gonna start to color now.

If it ain't broke, then don't fit it sure, but what about your kids? Must they suffer trying to figure out inches, feet and pounds too? I feel for American kids... seriously.

I don't find what people see is so hard about how we measure things.

1 whole, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 its just dividing things in half. I find metric mind numbing. But thats because I don't use it.

Its like a language, My kids are gonna learn Spanish , English and what ever language my wive's family speaks and its gonna be second nature. Other's might have a hard time learning a language cause its not common for them to hear or use it.

... Or you can just make things multiples of tens, and whole numbers when you do say it. Like... 13mm or what ever, rather than 1 3/16" or what ever. It's like with drill bits- what's bigger? 3/16 or 1/2? What's bigger out of 5mm and 8mm? Metrics is easy- 8mm is bigger. I'd have to stop and visualise how big a 1/2 is and 3/16 and then go blah is bigger. Seriously. Dividing by ten is easy. Dividing by 12 is not. But again- it's what you're use to.

More than plenty--I just got nervous because finals are attacking me and whopping my ass into the ground. Hard.

Hey, Arkillian.  I have a questions.  Is this contest limited only to people who have an account on Paperdemon?  Or could a friend of mine who doesn't have an account enter?

I donno. See, I'd like them to be a memeber since I'd rather a memebr win, and I don't have any desire for an entry that is outstanding in any way- this was ment to be a fun competition. I have had ones where I would have. I mean, they can enter, but I'd rather they were a PD member since BR is making such an effort for this. It only feels right that only memebers of this site should enter. They can if they join- it's not as if PD is a bad place to hang out- I'm sure they'd enjoy it here [emoticon]

Get them to join [emoticon] I'll get an extra entry, you'll have more friends here, the site will get more popularity, and they'll get to enter- everyone wins.

All right guys, I got my entry for the coloring contest done. And I also marked that I don't want any comments on it yet.  I think it would be good for all other people participating to also choose to turn off the critiques so it can be fair judging. Just my opinion though. So please take a look at it everyone. Go! GO! Shoo! [emoticon]

Okay so we can color anything in your gallery for this contest?  Any way we would like?  I think I will have to try this contest then.  [emoticon]   When is it due?
