Hello.

My name is Matt. I am a 29 year old independant comic artist/writer/inker/whatever else.
Being such has both blessings and curses, as, sure I get to do my own thing, but my own thing has not been paying the bills. LOL
In the days I don't work on my comic, I work at the Maryland SPCA. A kennel for homeless cats and dogs, until we can adopt them out to great people. Which DOES pay steady and I have to say more often than not is rewarding to the soul.

I like the whole PD thing, though my community of choice would be Elftown. Simply because it remains free, no "premium" pay for accounts to separate the classes of 'haves' and 'have nots'. Plus everything is easier to manage and there is an AWE-INSPIRING field of talent. Now I am not trying to bash the PD in any way. All I am saying is that PD is young in its years and a little naive, maybe. There is room for growth. The talent here is just that...talented. But in me travels here I have noticed a lot of "OH, yeah my book is getting published soon!" fakers, who's work is quite apparently sub-standard at the best. But I do find it somewhat morbidly amusing to watch them later make excuses about why said book has not come to bear fruit. Small hint: Watch an artist talking that shit, and ask for a release date. Dime to a dollar says they don't have one or aren't allowed to give it. [emoticon]

I make a big thing about it because I hate liars and primadonnas. One who drop by your house to talk about themselves and then how you should be more like them. Or folks who nit-pik at your art when they can't find anything apparently wrong with it. They just have to say something. Oh, and don't put "Roast Me" on your house if your going to tell folks to be polite. Either suck it up and be gracious they said anything at all, or forfeit what their opinion is and just change the option to "Sugar-coated", ya sissies.
Anyways, folks around here can call me Evil, or evilmonk, or just plain Matt. (Without the 'just plain' part)
I do some commission work when I have the free time, and lets face facts, I HAVE free time, and a paying gig always beats a labor of love, or at least so far as the bank is concerned. I don't have a certain speciality, as I can pretty much do anything in any style. Prices vary according to the amount of work you need done, time-frame, and shipping. I keep the work limited to Fanart, or splash/pin-up pages. Sorry, I can't undertake drawing someone elses comic, GREAT as it may be, I have got to do what I want to do. I think almost anyone can understand. Concept art fer your characters is fine but NO SEQUENTIAL PAGES. Most complete works are around 10 dollars (US), but as was said earlier, work varies, so does cost.
So give me a ring if you should want decent quality work that won't break the bank.
