Miz Em

Posted: Aug 26, 2007 3:33 am

These are some photos I took my my horse, Emmy, back in March. She's an adorable li'l bugger, and I love her.

Here's some info:

Stable Name: "Emmy" "Em" Miz Em"
Registered Name: "Empress of King"
Breed: Appaloosa
Breeding: 1/2 Appy 1/2 Quarter Horse
Color: Chestnut with roaning on sides and flanks. No markings.
Birthday: June 1st 1993
Height: 15 1/2 hands.
Likes: Trail rides, grazing, soaking in the river, peanut butter cookies, dogs.
Dislikes: Horse shows, vets, people who do not give her treats, and getting wormed.
Strengths: Extremely smart, picks up new tricks very fast; remembers old ones. Doesn't run away with you. Not afraid of most big trucks. Good footing: rarely trips or stumbles even on rocky trails. Is not afraid of trailers. Doesn't bite, kick, or bully people. Is incredibly cute.
Weaknesses: Tendancy to sand colic. Doesn't grow heel on her front feet. Old injury from broken nevicular bone: is sometimes gimpy in cold wether or mud. Opinionated: when upset is extremely difficult to work with.

I think that sums her up pretty well.

I took all these myself, and it was surprisingly easy to get nice pictures of her. To get a nice picture of a horse all you have to do is get a shot of it with its ears up, but this is normally a two-person job: one person takes the picture while the other jumps up and down behind them waving their arms madly to get the horse's attention. However, Emmy found the camera fascinating, and kept following me around, obviously hoping it would start producing food.

My favorite is the one at the lower right: I got it by standing right next to her cheeck and holding the camera up and snapping pictures randomly. The background shot is her paddock: it was at its most picturesque because all the grass was growing in.
