Critiquing TutorialPosted: Dec 18, 2006 11:48 pm
Since my scanner is a being a butt right now, I thought I'd just type all this.
Here goes!Oh, and these are guidelines my photography teacher gave our class to help us critique each other's pictures. ---- 1. Look at the picture: -How does it make you feel? -Does it provoke memories for you? -What is going on in the picture? -Is the message clear? -Did they meet the requirements of the assignment (I guess this is more school based, but...I don't know, maybe if it was a challenge or if they had a goal to achieve or something )?-Is the composition successful? Explain. -Is it presented well? 2. When speaking about someone's work you should sandwich your responses. This means: -Begin with one positive commment -Discuss any areas for improvement -Finish with an overall positive observation 3. Suggestions: -Would the picture look better from a different angle (for example, high up instead of eye level)? -What would you change about the lighting (yeah, more photography related...) -Is there too much negative space or too much positive space? -To improve the mood, you would change (i.e. colours)? -I find ____ annoying. I would... -To emphasize the subject more I would... --- Please keep in mind that I did not write this, it was my teacher who did. So I take no credit for it! It's also based on photography, but I think a lot of it can apply to any kind of art.I hope that this helps! It sure helped me get going.
