This was the first poem I ever wrote. I wrote this to enter in a Neopets (I'm a member, yes) poetry contest. I lost, but everyone I know was so moved by the poem that I decided to keep it and direct it to Adoption Centers in general, and not just the Neopets one. :) Hope you like!

Chapter 1
Someone left them there
They must have had a reason
Perhaps they got sick
Or just wouldn't please them
Some may be too ugly
For the owner to keep
But no reason is good enough
To let the owner sleep
And now they sit there
Depressed and starved
Their heart, their owner have rashly out-carved
But all that can change
You can repave their way
Go down to the center
And adopt one today
