Hours later, they arrived at the site of the supply ship crash, taking cover behind trees to be cautious. Hudson peeked around the side of the tree to find Covenant Elite soldiers rummaging through the rubble of the ship. "There are 5 of them," he whispered with his comrades replying silently. "Ok...let's get them!" Watson said as he stood up, only to be pulled back down by Colonel Cleveland. "Not yet! You are being too captious, we need a plan first," The Commander nodded in agreement and formulated their plan. "Colonel, take your sniper rifle to the top of the trees. When I give the signal, take them out. Privates, give me suppressing fire and help me take them out. Is that clear to everyone?" The others nodded and took their positions.

After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, Hudson let out a series of adagio bird calls, causing the Covenant Elites to turn around and ready their Plasma Pistols. As if out of nowhere, a bullet lodged itself into the waist of one of the Elites. The rest were stuck in imbroglio and as soon as it began, it ended. The Covenants looked like they needed physiologists after the Spartans were finished with them, their organs spewed across the ground. As the Colonel and Privates searched the supply ship for any supplies that survived, Hudson walked over to the first victim, hit in the waist by Cleveland 's bullet. He nudged the corpse with his foot, causing its eye to lurch open, finding the Commander's SMG in its face. "Don't move!" he ordered the Covenant. It lay there, not moving an inch. It turned its head to his open hand, which had a device in it. The Elite smiled, and laughed balefully as it pushed a red button on the device he had. From his experience, the commander knew what this was. "He's set off thermal detonator! Everybody take cover!" he called to his comrades. In a panic, they all ran as far as possible before ducking behind a few trees. They looked back to find it exploding, blinding them with a white light, as the explosion swept through them. The explosion was even seen from the Earth space station some 15,000 miles into space.
