Carefully Tokito removed her battle torn clothing. There was almost nothing but shreds left after her battle with Akira. And if that was not evidence enough on how tough the battle had been then the bruises and all the bandages were. Her body was aching all over. But she did not regret that battle, Tokito decided for herself as she slipped into a sleeping yukata. She had lost, but she had won something in return. An illusion was broken and though the truth was painful it proved to be for the best. Matters that she at first found significant proved to be insignificant. Her eyes were opened.
Tokito lowered herself slowly onto her futon. She was taken to this room by Anjelica, the sister of Yuan. They had taken her into their home as one of their own and for that she was grateful. Still as she found herself alone in this room, she could hear her battle with Akira in her head, see the battle with Akira before her eyes and feel the battle with Akira. ‘Akira-san….’ She sighed as she thought of him. Who would have though that he would turn her world upside down. She had not able to see it in her cards. Now his vision haunted her mind. Even as she stared into the darkness of the room she could still see him… The way he sat on the ground with his shirt opened to reveal one shoulder and half of his back. It hadn’t done anything to her then. But things had changed, unexpectedly, but they changed. He had so many scars on his body! Then she remembered he told everyone that he been on the battlefield ever since he was ten years old, fighting alongside Demon Eyes Kyo. A life that had been as tough as hers with the Mibu. Tokito shifted to her other side. Why couldn’t she stop thinking about him? Because he defeated her? Because he gave her a new goal? Because of how strange he made her feel? All this time she had pretended to be a boy. Because she thought that being a boy was better. It would make her stronger. But that had proven to be an illusion. She was a girl. And she was told that it was ok to be a girl. He’d known somehow. For some reason he had seen her for who she really was. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “No matter how shocked you are, even your cute face would go to ruins if you express it like that.” Akira moved closer to Tokito. He placed a finger and a thumb underneath her chin as he said those words. There were only a few inches between them. Her eyes were widened and it was as if she held her breath. The fast beating of her heart seemed so loud she was certain he could hear it. Inside she was screaming that he should not touch her, yet somehow she didn’t mind at all either. She could feel his eyes upon her. His gaze was tired, confident and yet also gentle. It was confusing. There was silence between them for several moments. Tokito took a deep breath. Her fists had been clenched all this time, firmly grasping her hokuto shichisei. Yet now they started to relax and her swords dropped to the ground. “What are you doing?” she managed to bring out. Akira smirked. It was an expression he was known for. “I am looking at you.” Tokito looked up, straight into his open eyes. “Stop looking at me.” He continued to smirk, brought his face a little closer. “Why would I do that when there’s so much to see that I couldn’t see before?” A slight blush appeared onto her face and she lowered her eyelids. “You make me feel strange.” She hesitated to admit that. He took one of her hands into his own free hand. His voice spoke now only in a whisper. “Oh really? The mighty Tokito of the Taishirou feels uncomfortable because of me, worthless worm Akira. Because this samurai without a sacred bloodline is taking the upper hand. I was wondering if that was all you got there.” Tokito’s eyes started blazing with fire. “I can crush you anytime.” Again the snow blond samurai smirked. “I know.” “You took me by surprise for amoment, but that won’t happen again,” she continued. “Are you certain of that?” His eyes sparkled mischievously. She pulled her hand from his hand and took a step back. “Ofcourse I am.” Akira stepped forward and closed the distance between them once more. He leaned into her until there were only a few inches between their faces, as he did before. “I would not be so sure of that if I were you.” Tokito’s eyes slid to the ground, to where she had dropped her swords. “And why would that be?” He smirked and his eyes sparkled. Slowly he placed his hand underneath her chin to make her look at him again. “Because you never know whatI am going to do next.” An arrogant expression appeared on the girl’s face. “Everything that happens has been preordained. I have seen it in the cards.” “Then surely you have seen this.” Before she even realized what he was saying Tokito felt soft pressure on her lips. Her eyes widened at first, then she started blinking. She felt how he pulled her closer to him. Her hands pushed against his chest. A thousand thoughts crossed her mind. He was kissing her! He shouldn’t be kissing her. They were enemies. Just a minute ago they were fighting each other. He was kissing her. No one had ever kissed her before. “We can’t….” “Yes, we can.” “We’re enemies.” “We’ll still be enemies.” “You have to stop.” “Do you really want me to stop, Tokito-san?” Silently Tokito shook her heard, without taking her eyes off of the young man in front of her. Was he blushing? Like she felt she did? She traced her lips with her fingers. The feeling of his lips pressed on hers still lingered there. “I figured you’d say that.” Akira’s heart beating increased and he leaned into the girl in front of him. As he kissed her for the second time he felt her hands no longer pushed against his chest, but applied gentle pressure. He couldn’t help but smirk at her submission. Slowly the young swordsman took Tokito into his arms and pressed her as close against him as he could. She was surprised at how warm he felt. It wasn’t something she expected from an ice user. His hair was so soft. She felt like she could stay like this forever. Never before had she felt so loved, respected, appreciated and accepted for who she was… -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a flash Tokito’s eyes opened and she moved to sit up straight on her futon. It took her several moments to realize where she was. She looked around her room, but found that she was alone. Suddenly the door to her room opened. Anjelica, the younger sister of Yuan, appeared. “Tokito-san, are you alright?” she asked from the opening of the door. Tokito looked up and smiled briefly. “I am fine. Thank you, Anjelica-san.” Anjelica returned the smile and closed the door behind her. With a sigh Tokito returned to lay down again. She stared into the distance, thinking about her dream. Her fingers touched her lips. Was it just a dream? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Somewhere else, in a place no one else knows, Akira woke up as well. He walked to the window of his cabin, dressed in his sleeping yukata. In front of that window he sat down. For a moment he rested his face in his hand as he leaned on his arm. He stared thoughtfully out of the window. ‘Tokito-san…’ |
