Everything was fine, he kept telling himself. Everything was absolutely fine.
He didn't see it. The rush from the train and the blurred images of motion and the sickening feeling in his gut were tricking him. He didn't see it. He didn't just see two people kissing, holding each other as if they were meant for each other. As if without the other, they would die without oxygen. He didn't see it. Those two people, yeah; he didn't know them. No, especially not the shorter one.
The shorter one with the crimped brown hair and the dark-coloured eyes and a facial expression that read you're not invited, i'm sorry, and we're through.
And his world crashed the moment he dropped his briefcase.
