Burning
The oil spills,
Dry wheat from mills,
Help it catch on fire.
And all I know,
Is where to go,
As it spreads on higher.
I stop to stare,
Back over there,
Watching all the trees.
I start to think,
And then I blink,
And fall down to my knees.
I see the birds,
And all the bees,
Flying from the trees.
I saw the pond,
I saw the fawn,
And then my own eyes blurred.
It made me cry,
To see her die,
Though I could not look away.
It was so sad,
I felt so bad,
that they had gone that way.
