This is one I did of my son and niece who are big LotR fans. The head proportions are off as I later realized that the proportions on a 2 and 3 year old are a lot different from an adult. They still loved it though.

Proportions are the hardest part to get down, I think. Even the way you draw women is different proportion-wise than men. Not much, but by a little. They're still adorable and you can still get the feeling you were trying to capture with this piece. I love how much detail you put into your drawings. Yours are a rare type that don't even need any color. They're perfect how they are. Everyone I've shown your drawings has fallen in love with them. You're getting quite a fan-base here in Nebraska. *smiles*

I don't know what to say. I'm honored that you and your friends think so highly of my work. If your interested I have a graphic novel coming out next year. It's a 300 page GN with grayscale art. The main character is my Roth character that i've drawn a few times. Tell everyone thank you and I hope they like the new pics i'm going to post in a couple of weeks.

I will definately be looking for it, Dennis. I look forward to reading it. You'll have to let me know when it's ready for release though. I'll be first in line to buy it. I was just wondering if it contains all of your personal work or if it has work from other people in it as well? Congratulations.

I'm doing the enterior art but the cover is going to be done by a digital artist and there will be several pinups done by a few well known guest artists. It's an adult book with lots of graphic violence, gore, some nudity and dark subject matter. My publisher has its release date for May of 2006 as i've only drawn half of the book so far. Thank you for your interest in it, it's very encouraging.

Sounds exciting. And you've covered all of my favorite things in one book... (Violence, gore, nudity) *laughs* I'll keep that date in mind. I'm looking forward to seeing the book. Just don't work yourself too hard in the process. Remember that you're doing it because you want to. And don't get discouraged. You should be very proud of yourself. Hey, I think I'll continue our conversations in the private messages box so I don't eat up your review space. Sound good?

I'm totally loving that staff. Your son and niece are cute Big Smile I think you could really add some depth to this if you lighten up the mountains and trees in the background to give it an atmospheric perspective feel. It looks like you've already intended to do it but it could be just a bit lighter. That's something you could probably do really quick in photoshop.
    By the way, nice icon
    • May 25, 2005, 1:25:48 AM UTC
Thanks, i'll think about your advice about the mountains as I tend to shy away from doing anything to my drawings with a PC. It's one of those quirks I have which has plagued me for years.
      • May 25, 2005, 6:05:10 PM UTC
Well, PhotoShop and those other programs are all just artist tools. Don't think of them as cheap. It's just another advancement in technology just as oil painting is an advancement in media technology from the frescos that Michelangelo did.
        • May 26, 2005, 3:26:08 AM UTC
Oh I don't think them as cheap at all and I admire the work produced with them. It's just that well....I guess i'm turning into one of those old geezers and i'm too darn stubborn for my own good.
