Sephiroth Oil Painting

I was playing around with a sketch in Painter again and this is what I've got so far. I've been using the default oil settings. This is Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7. This is a work-in-progress. I think the sketch I started with didn't have enough volume to it so the face is looking a little flat. Oh well, I'm really just experimenting. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I'll work on this some more tomorrow.

This painting is still in the very loose stages so it definately needs refinement.

    Ok so when I first saw this I thought it was completely awesome(A whole lot better than I could ever do) But what bugged me about it is that it didn't flow together well to me. It may just be me but visible brush strokes bug me alot. So maybe if you smoothed it up alittle bit it might make look even better. I don't know if that helped any but I still love it!....don't hurt me Innocent

      yeah you are right. I think what might not be flowing right is the strokes in the hair and in the leather clothing. They don't look convincing. I like the brushstrokes in the background though. They look kind of cool. His face doesn't look quite right either. I'll have to take another crack at this when I get the chance.

        Oh your right about the strokes in the background I like those. The strokes on him though should be smother is what I ment so you could make him out alittle more. And do finish this one I'd really loved to see how it comes out.Grin

    So you just one of the best on this site... this is an awesome job on Sephiroth, one of the all time best bad guys in FF.....

    Oooh! He looks very creepy and evil here. Wow.... I only know Sephiroth from pictures, having never played the game, but in this picture he's very attractive! I like that only his face is clearly defined, it draws your eyes, makes you hold his gaze. *shudder*

    Wooow! I'm very insterested in seeing the finished piece. You've already established a kind of 'energy' with the colors and brush strokes you're using. Nice composition! It's very hard to look away from.

    So its his hair, i understand now, but i still feel like there's something to be done there.

          no don't be ashamed. The fact that you saw it as a hood tells me that I need to clarify the painting.

    Nice painting, i really like the "diffuse" effect you made, it gives the background an impression of movement. And hum, i don't know this caracter so i dunno if it's a hood on his head or his hair but if like his head is somehow lost in it...

    I really love the way you handle the brush!

    Wow, this is really awesome! I love the rich shading; I think it really sets a mood.
    My friend loves Sephiroth; he says this is the coolest drawing of him he's ever seen ^_^

    Sephiroth is such a hottie.....especially in Avdvent Children! But he had short hair in that one....I love him with long locks!

          Does it have English dialogue or at least English subtitles? I don't want to watch it if I don't know what's going on. Please let me know if you are successful and where you got the torrent for it (if you did use a torrent).

    This looks amazing. I love his eyes. I don't exactly know who this character is because I have never played FF7, but, it looks remarkable anyway.

    I like the drawing, but I think it looks a little strange with his face being clearer than his body. Maybe add some more definition to his armor and such?...It does really pull off the creepy feel though. Hmm. Slant

      Yeah you are right. Much of his body still needs to be refined. The painting is still in a very loose stage. Creepy is probably a good thing with this character since he's the main villian. Although I don't think I was conciously trying to make it feel creepy.
