Touch of the WInter - fairy

This boy was wandering in the freezing snow being cold and lonely and about to give up life , untill suddenly a bright light appeared in front of him.  He couldn't clearly see what it was, but it's light radiated a soft warmth upon his face making him feel warm, happy and above all willing to live again.  Afterwards he realised what had occured to him that day and remembered an ancient story an old lady had once told him:  When you're good at heart but within the grasp of Death in the cold of winter, then when you're not supposed to die the Winter-Fairy will come and with it's light pull you out of Death's embrace.
