oh...my...god. are you people serious. look up the meaning of art...it might have something t do with talent. i'm younger than you and 10 times better. i would be embaressed to put this crapola on the internet. hmm yay for old art...maybe not dear. take it off. dont embaress yourself. the people saying this is good must be realy bad at art. i mean worse than you if this is what they look up to. i honestly thought this was a joke. even my old work is good. well...that was fun haha!

    EDIT by site Administrator:
Dear "art critic," you've just shot yourself in the foot, you know that? You will probably never be successful as a professional artist if you keep that attitude because the industry doesn't want to work with people like you. They would rather hire a person who is less skilled and easier to work with than someone who is very tallented and arrogant. You might want to consider changing your attitude, at least for your own career's sake.

I would find this perhaps more of an insult if it were from someone with an actual grasp of the english language. Laughing Besides, dear, if you knew anything about art I'd imagine you knew something about Picasso or Mondrian? One doesn't need to strive for realism in order to be an artist. Thanks for the laugh, anyhow. I'm sorry that your time was wasted writing that useless little note.

ps - What the Hell kind of word is 'crapola'? I wish people would listen to themselves once in a while. Laughing
    • Jul 21, 2005, 10:09:56 PM UTC
well, Mini, "crapola" is a nonsense word used by those who usually don't know what they are talking about. That is why these kiddos should leave their mouths shut when it comes to reviewing art unless they really know what they are saying. At leastwe all get to laugh at this review.

Indeed. lol! Idiocy knows no bounds, does it?
        • Jul 21, 2005, 11:02:24 PM UTC
Nope. it sure grows by leaps and bounds though. I wonder if they have been that way all of their life or if it is something new they are trying. I would LOVE them to put their money where there mouth is though and show off some of that "amazing" artwork. Laughing

*smiles* My night couldn't be too much better. And I don't mean that sarcastically either. Tongue

If this person really stuck by their statement, they would have left an email address. Coward. That's what he is.

Yay! is definately right. This reminds me of some of DaVinci's old sketchbook drawings.
    • Jul 12, 2005, 2:59:47 PM UTC
DaVinci!? My goodness me, you are quite the charmer, my friend. Laughing I'm glad you are so happy with my new submissions.
  • Jul 7, 2005, 5:59:10 PM UTC
I love that watercolor you've got going on there. It makes it look like parchment or something aged and sacred.
    • Jul 7, 2005, 9:20:12 PM UTC
Unfortunately, it's not watercolour, but two different textured papers that I thought went well together, and glued into my sketchbook before drawing on them... I hadn't touched watercolours yet at the time that I drew this. But thanks very much for your encouraging comment, yet again, BR!
      • Jul 7, 2005, 10:23:46 PM UTC
oh ok it still looks cool though. I bet you could achieve the same look quickly and cheaply with watercolors. I like watercolor. It's fun.
        • Jul 7, 2005, 10:25:41 PM UTC
I could now, yes. At the time, though, I didn't even own watercolours, and this paper WAS very cheap. lol. Keep in mind, my friend, that this picture is two years old.
  • Jul 7, 2005, 11:42:30 AM UTC
    Indeed!

Good work, i love the background and the balance. What kind of paper did you use? Its nice!!
    • Jul 7, 2005, 11:50:26 AM UTC
I found a large packet of different scrapbook papers, and I said to myself, I says: ROBIN! Those are good for drawings on! And I bought them. And that's how it all came about. Then I just cut and pasted after that. I've woven them together to make matts for frames, and played with textures, and combined colours, as in this case.
      • Jul 7, 2005, 12:04:27 PM UTC
Its pretty nice, you had a good idea. Its good to try different medium once in a while. In my art classes we had a project: Everybody had to put one of their shoes on a table in the middle of the room, the day before that the teacher ask us to buy a different kind of medium...lol...you should have seen mine, i cant even say what type of paper it was, just very nice...but my shoes came out very nice on that weird paper!
        • Jul 7, 2005, 12:07:13 PM UTC
Different papers are a lot of fun to play with, if you can afford it. THis was a gigantic bulk pack, so I only paid once, and still have tons left over. I should do some fantasy work on it...
          • Jul 7, 2005, 12:08:40 PM UTC
            Please do!Wink
            • Jul 7, 2005, 12:12:02 PM UTC
OK! You don't have to ask me twice... BUt first, I need to finish all this work I've promised people. *sigh*
  • Jul 7, 2005, 11:35:25 AM UTC
See? Now why can't I do that? You make wonderful looking hands. Maybe I will get this good someday. I love the writing in the background and I LOVE the colors on it. It looks like it came from one of those old anatomy books, you know? Greta job. You rock, love.
    • Jul 7, 2005, 11:46:52 AM UTC
I had my friend, who has some very personality-filled hands, making some interesting hand movements to entertain me. I just made her hold the poses. She was amused.

Thank you my love. I used to have fun every once in a while with my sketchbook.. It was the only place where I could be relatively free with my drawings.
      • Jul 7, 2005, 3:44:02 PM UTC
I take my sketchbook with me everywhere I go. I hate to be parted with it. You never know where you will find inspiration, you know? I think I am going to take my portfolio around with me tomorrow as I walk around town for our annual festival. It will be a good opprtunity for me to show off. I love showing off. Wink Keep up the good work, sweetheart.
        • Jul 7, 2005, 9:30:32 PM UTC
Yes! Show off, my dear, and enjoy every moment of it. Wink Can I show you off, too?
          • Jul 7, 2005, 9:57:03 PM UTC
Sure. I would hope you would show me off. I don't want my husband to be ashamed of me. That is why I always primp myself for you. To keep you interested. Wink Laughing
            • Jul 7, 2005, 10:06:13 PM UTC
Laughing I'll never lose interest in you, my dear, even without all the special primpin-up. I'd still love you if you went bald and weighed 400 pounds and had a nose that extended 3 feet from your face. *grin* You'd be my beautiful wife, regardless. (Damn, I'm smooth.)
              • Jul 7, 2005, 10:09:52 PM UTC
You are smooth. You have total game. Heh,heh. You know exactly what I want to hear. heehee. We are so silly.
  • Jul 7, 2005, 11:18:29 AM UTC
Wow, this is awesome! The hands are really expressive and well-formed. Did you ink this, or is it in pencil??
    • Jul 7, 2005, 11:19:58 AM UTC
Nope drawn all in pen whilst I was doing my best not to pay attention to my teacher, who was droning on and on about someone's painting, because the moron who painted said painting won't ever let him finish! This led to 25-minute critiques in a class of 25 people. Not pretty.
      • Jul 7, 2005, 11:24:32 AM UTC
Owch. I know what that feels like! Tongue I took a college art course a couple of years ago, and I just sat around drawing DBZ (heheh) while the teacher either gave boring lectures about nothing relevant, or got other students started on some mindless debate!
Anyways, this is really , really cool! And all in pen, too; that's amazing. It's really hard to get anything right with just ink, but you pulled it off swimmingly. Great job! ^_^
        • Jul 7, 2005, 11:26:30 AM UTC
Thanks very much, Stealthy! I'm off to upload some more for ya. I just have to keep flipping through all these bloody sketchbooks. Laughing

I know many of us here will know my pain... I'm so glad that I no longer have to endure that.
          • Jul 7, 2005, 11:28:35 AM UTC
Thank you! I love sketchbook art; it's art in it's purest form ^_^ And yours is just particularly magnificent. Keep 'em comin'!
            ~*~
We're here to help you through the painful memories, Minimaid!!! lol
            • Jul 7, 2005, 11:43:42 AM UTC
Smile Well I'm running out of unsmudged ones from this sketchbook, so I'm on to the next. LOL! You asked for it, and you shall receive in abundance, most likely.
              • Jul 7, 2005, 11:59:00 AM UTC
                Yayee! Thank you ^_^
                • Jul 7, 2005, 12:00:03 PM UTC
OK! I loaded three more, and I think that's enough for one day. I have to go get ready for work. Tongue Well, first I'll finish up here, of course, because I'm an addict...
