I do like this one (as I do all of your other pieces). I must admit though that when I saw the thunbnail I thought you had done some cubism. This is very pleasing to the eye.

Cubism, unfortunately, is something I've never been particularly good at recreating. After Analytical Cubism.... I just don't think I could do that. It was so beautiful in those very first designs of Picasso and Braques.

I know what you mean. I once tried cubism but failed miserably at it as I just lack the eye and thoght process I guess.

Another very nice sketch , I always love your amazing backgrounds, you're really talented Smile

*blush* That's just the texture of the paper. I know at the stage I am with my artwork now, I could make that kind of background, but at this point in time I was pumping out a lot of work in a short period of time because of due dates, and I didn't have much time for experimentation. *sigh* I'm sorry so many people think I painted that background.

its ok if you didn't paint it , the choice of paper is commendable Smile. Anyway I alway's enjoy you're artwork Smile so no problem

I love your style, it is unique, keep going!

wow, yur very good at this. Its almost 3 different kind of art...cubism, surrealism and observation! I like it a lot, you used charcoal and watercolor...very interesting composition. My teacher would have loved you!
    • Jul 7, 2005, 12:10:57 PM UTC
No, no, I didn't use watercolour here. Just charcoal on patterned paper. Smile I hadn't even started watercolours yet at this stage in my art. Thanks for your comments and appreciation, though, it's all very encouraging!

well you had me there, its great anyway Smile
        • Jul 7, 2005, 12:13:58 PM UTC
Wink Well, I can't have you going on false beliefs. Though at this point in time, I might be able to draw a background like that. I just don't think I have the patience.
          • Jul 7, 2005, 12:15:51 PM UTC
lol, i understand you on that...Damn i have to get back to work..tee hee!
            • Jul 7, 2005, 12:16:39 PM UTC
Me too.. Or rather, I have to get TO work. LOL! Have an awesome day, hun.
  • Jul 7, 2005, 12:00:09 PM UTC
Wow, that's cool! I really love the check pattern here; is that watercolor over pencil or ink or ???
    • Jul 7, 2005, 12:01:13 PM UTC
It's the paper. I drew the hands and did the writing in charcoal, cut out the top part of the paper, and put it over the other paper... I like playing with patterned papers.

Wow! That's really cool. You must know a lot of awesome techniques to get all those great visual effects you use ^_^
        • Jul 7, 2005, 12:04:13 PM UTC
I just playa round, mostly, and find things through happy accident. Smile I'm glad you like it so much!
          • Jul 7, 2005, 12:05:09 PM UTC
Wish my accidents were so happy, lol! You should author a how-to book ^_^
            • Jul 7, 2005, 12:09:27 PM UTC
I would author a how-to book, but I really suck both at writing and explaining things. LOL! Really, I'm a very tactile person. To teach someone something, they need to be in front of me so I can watch what they're doing, and give them pointers.
              • Jul 7, 2005, 1:04:48 PM UTC
I understand what you mean Tongue Maybe you could have someone help with the writing, and you could do all the art! Hehe ^_^

Okay... now you are just showing off. LOL Just kidding. I love it. I hate birds, but I have made this movement with my hands before. It looks like it was hard to draw. But then again, hands ARE hard to draw for me. I like your skethes. You make it look so easy. My love always.
    • Jul 7, 2005, 11:49:01 AM UTC
Ask, and I shall provide. You asked, StealthNerd asked.. I'm providing. Tongue This wasn't too hard. I drew the hands seperately, both from my own hand. That why the one looks kinda backwards. They are the same hand. Hands are NOT easy. Not even for me, and I've drawn them so many times I can't count. I have endless troubles with the things...

You know I love you too. Aww, that was sweet.
      • Jul 7, 2005, 3:50:17 PM UTC
Well you can never tell that you struggle with drawing hands. You make yours look flawless. I cannot believe how hard hands are to draw. Of all the things that should be hard, it is the dang hands that I have the most trouble with. I guess that is why I must keep practicing. Thank you for your constant help. I owe alot of my newly developed skills to you. Thanks for always giving me that extra little push to become better. You are awesome. Much love.

Oh posh! If you didn't give yourself the drive and determination, you wouldn't get anywhere! You need to give yourself more credit for your wonderful accomplishments, my dear.

And yes, I struggle with drawing hands... Especially when I'm drawing the figure with them. Laughing
