Connect the Dots

This thing has a little bit of everything in it...

This was our first assignment in the Advanced Digital Illustration class took spring semester of my senior year, a conceptual self portrait.

My concept was a dot-to-dot puzzle of myself because when I was little, my parents didn't think I was going to be very artistic because I never touched the coloring books they got me. I'd do a dot-to-dot book cover to cover, but even then I wouldn't color the puzzle once I was done drawing it. They've since come to the conclusion that I liked drawing and coloring my own work but not anyone else's. I put color down on this one just for the sake of the piece itself.

So let's see... the line work and dots, numbers, etc are Adobe Illustrator. The coloring is crayola crayons on newsprint, scanned into Photoshop and placed underneath the linework with a light filter on it to give the piece a lightsource. The crayons are painted in digitally via Photoshop.
