    At first I thought she was just a part of the desert.
    She moved silently, but was instantly so close to us that we could see the slightest detail on the leaf-shaped talisman she wore. A great cat of some sort, she looked at us with a keen intelligence.
    My companion gulped as clouds of dust billowed up around her paws, taking on vague shapes and hues that couldn't quite be called natural. And she spoke.
    "I am the guardian of these tombs behind me, a shamaness of the desert. Are you lost?"
    I nodded jerkily, and she smiled. Claws curled up in the sand around us, or perhaps it was my imagination.
    "The shortest way out of the desert is behind you. I can show you how to find water along the way...unless, of course..."
    Her grin widened. "As I said, I am a shaman and guard. You wouldn't have seen any tomb robbers around, would you?"
    My companion's gulp was very loud. "You don't mean --"
    Her teeth were pointy. "You have thirty seconds to run.

My first art submission on PD! -dance-

Anyway, meh. I was very happy with this until my scanner pointed out how rough the coloring looks online. =/ It looks much better IRL, I really don't know how people do it...

Anyway, tentatively suggesting Roast Me for critique...just to warn you all, I'm honestly not very proud of my artwork and I know perfectly well a lot of it stinks, but I'd really like to improve. Soooo, hopefully I'm not embarrassing myself thinking I can go for advanced critique and understand it. >-<;
