Yin Yang Lineart

Posted Jul 29, 2005, 10:14:48 AM UTC
A proposal for all my fellow artists out there:

I am putting up a contest! Whosoever wishes can colour this piece in whatever way they like, with whatever medium. I will go through all submissions, and the winner of the contest will receive a free commission from me.

If you wish to partake in this little contest of mine, e-mail me at [email protected], and I will send you a cleaned-up, larger version of this lineart. When you are finished colouring, mail your results to the same address.

For now, the deadline is August 29th, 2005. If I get a lot of contestants, the deadline may be lengthened.

Also, please post your critiques for this piece, as I intend to make it into my own painting for a good friend of mine. (With my very own, already-decided colouring job...)

AS AN ADDITION!

Please PLEASE do not use my address for ANYTHING other than the contest mails. I know e-cards and invitations to chat sites and such things as that are all from the goodness of your hearts, but they cause spam, and that would mean I'd be changing my e-mail address... Not only spam, but viruses, for that matter, and I don't like them. Then again, if you have a virus and you mail me, I'm likely to get it anyway. This is turning into a rant. Anyway, if you want to write me a letter (except the select few of you who already know who you are) please PM me. This is VERY important to me, ok? Much love!

This is great work, Really like the way the one clutches the others foot. I know... kind of a strange thing to like, But some how it conveys emotion. Makes her seem feisty Smile
I like the challenge you issued too, I bet you'll get some great results. I would venture to submit my own take on the color but alas I am dreadful at coloring. The hair on these two is captivating, it flows brilliantly as does the upright lovelies dress. Excellent work.

Wink Oh, come on, Zacula. You know you want to! Laughing Lloyd's colouring it, you know. Of course, I won't pressure you - but don't let your insecurities get in your way. If you don't think it will be fun, don't do it. If you DO think it will be fun... Well, then, why wouldn't you?

Hmmm... I got you figured, you just want to see how bad a colour scheme can be. Smile It's a great piece and It would be fun though, If I find time I'll probably give it a go. this is like a disaster waiting to happen, a colour tornado...

LOL! Well, disasters waiting to happen make it more interesting, don't they? Laughing

This is exciting Robin, I can't wait to see all the different versions.
I have saved the small version, and might have a go myself if I can find the time :*

I am trying to finish that picture of Alex as a wizard, and today I started a portrait of my sister etc. But colouring this with no anatomy worries might prove to be a relaxation for me. *Hugs!*

I would LOVE to see you colour your own gift! It's a whole month away, luv, and you only have to think about colouring... Anyhow, you have my e-mail if you want to play, too. You don't have to enter the contest, if you don't want to, though I say the more the merrier!

The larger version is done and ready...

        • Jul 29, 2005, 9:48:24 PM UTC
Shall I e-mail you the bigger version? It's more printer-friendly, even if you don't want to enter the contest... but I'd need your e-mail first. Tongue
          • Jul 29, 2005, 9:57:55 PM UTC
Oh yes that sounds really good!! I wouldn't win the contest any way lol!! But I will color it just for you!!
            • Jul 29, 2005, 10:01:55 PM UTC
Who is to say who wins the contest unless it is attempted? So far everyone who has entered (nearly, anyhow) claims to be bad at colouring. LOL! I love you all, with your low self-esteem. Wish I had the power to make you see how beautiful your work really is...

OK! So send me an e-mail. Remember, part of the judging will be based on creativity.

I'm in! I just sent you an e-mail. ^_^ At any rate, I don't think there's anything on here that could use fixing. Luvly job, Robin!! ^_^

Hey, this is such a good idea Robin! I will participate of course, colouring such a great piece of work will be an honor!!!!!!!!!! Mwah!
    • Jul 29, 2005, 9:19:52 AM UTC
Excellent! Just send me an e-mail, and I'll send you the lineart, ok?
  • Jul 29, 2005, 1:53:33 AM UTC
OooooooooW! This one would be excellent to work with. The composition is very nice and both women are gorgeous! Everything about the design foreshadows how beautiful this is going to be, From the moon and sun tattoos to the way their dressed, right down to the exprssions! You sure you just don't want a shading job? A dark shading job on one and a lighter job on the other would be perfect?! Oh well, i'll see if I have any of my old coloring pencils still around and give it my best but I warn you...... my coloring skills have been known to frighten llittle children.
    • Jul 29, 2005, 1:58:52 AM UTC
See... The problem with a shading job is that that is precisely what I'm going to do with the original - It's likely going to be a black and white painting. I really want to see what it will look like in colour, myself. Tongue And I SO want to see your colouring skills that you say are so awful. Remember, Lloyd... Much of your black and white work you consider to be horrid while I consider them absolute gems. (On that note... Of course you can shade it, but it wouldn't be in the contest. It would just be a present for Robin. Tongue Wink )

I think your friend will absolutely love it Robin. This is such a beautiful drawing. I think it is so neat that you are doing this for the members. It gives us something to strive for. Laughing As always, your girls are beautiful. I think I might just give this one a try. All my love, Switch Butmer

WOOT! Just send me an e-mail, love, and I'll send you the lineart. If every participant sends me an e-mail, then I can keep a folder of who's giving it a shot.
