Theseus and the Minotaur

Posted Jul 31, 2005, 6:13:51 AM UTC
Well, here it is Lloyd. I finally finished it. There are a few areas that need some fixing, but it is done for the most part. I thought that since you are such a mythology buff, that I would make you a picture of one of the greatest myths out there. For those of you who don't know, this is a picture of Theseus as he stands over the carcass of the Minotaur from the Labyrinth of Gnossus. This is one of my favorite myths and definitely worth reading folks. Well, I hope you enjoy it Lloyd. ^_^

Song? What song? Just kidding. I was listening to my Keane-Hopes and Fears Cd while drawing this for Lloyd. Their music is so calming. I almost ALWAYS listen to them while I draw.

Thank you so much Robin. I think my appendage drawing is getting a little better. I still need to work on the feet a little. I must confess... I struggled. But I am so glad you like it. I think I will try more of these kinds of drawings. The style was so much fun to do. All my love, Switch Butmer.

Lady, this is awesome! Your musculature on the Minotaur looks marvelous, and I love the look on Theseus' face. "Ha, ha!" It says. Great job girlie! Favorite

Thank you so very much Heidi. I had alot of fun drawing in this style. Yeah I wanted the expression on Theeus' face to be quite mocking. The only thing I forgot to add was the thread that Ariadne had given him to find his way back out of the Labyrinth. Doh Ah, well. Thank you for the compliment hun. Much love.

Wow great work, That Minotaur has a great face on him. The folds in the fabric are superb.
    • Jul 31, 2005, 10:56:31 AM UTC
Aww, thank you Zac. That ribbon around the Minotaur was quite a daunting task. Sweat Drop I am glad that it turned out okay for Lloyd. I told him that I almost left the helmet off of Theseus and gave him blue hair. Laughing That would have been some drawing, neh? Thank you for the kind review as always. ^_^

This is awesome, Kristy! I think it's a new style for you to tackle, and you've done so beautifully. You're so very versatile about your art, and it's always fascinating to see what you'll do next. Keep up the awesome work!!! Bounce

Thank you sweetie. ^_^ I try to be versatile in my art. I love to try all kinds of different things until I can find a style that suits me. I adore Greek mythology and thought I would try my hand at it. You never know, I may stick with this for a while. Who know? Thank you so much for the warm review. All my love. ^_^

Thank you so much M'lady. I am very happy you thought to do thid for me. When I first saw it I was stunned at the design and the musculature of the minotaur. Theseus also is gorgeous, the work you did on his toga is wonderful with the patterns and the folds. I also want to commend you on the minotaur's head and the fabric around his waist. It's just so well done that I have to give you a thumbs up on them.

Thank you so much for this Kristy and I just want you to know that I love it!

You are so very welcome Lloyd. ^_^ I am so happy that you like it. I wanted to do it to go hand in hand with your centaur. I think that is what they are called. Anyway, between the two of us, we should draw all of these legendary Greek monsters. That would be cool huh? We can be like Hercules and Xena of the drawing world. Laughing I am happy you like it. I almost left the helmet off and gave him blue hair just for you.
      • Jul 31, 2005, 12:20:30 AM UTC
That sounds like a great idea Kristy, but i'm afraid I won't be able to do it until a bit later. I am so behind on my novel pages that my publisher's getting somewhat perturbed. If you can wait a while though i'd love to do it at a later date if your still interested?
        • Jul 31, 2005, 1:27:45 AM UTC
Of course, silly. I know how busy you always are. It was merely a suggestion. I will start though because I have had fun drawing this one. I would like to try more. It is neat trying all these different art styles. ^_^

wow, this is awesome Lady Anime!!! I really like how you did the folds/highlights in the clothing on them..and you drew the bodies so well...excelent job! Big Smile
    • Jul 30, 2005, 9:58:32 PM UTC
^_^ Thank you EBS. The hardest part ws Theseus' toga. all those tiny little details in the pattern. Plus I had to do it so that I wouldn't screw it up. I tend to do that alot. Laughing Amyhow, thank you so muc for your kind review. I can always count on you to make my ego explode. Laughing Much love.
  • Jul 30, 2005, 9:30:08 PM UTC
Heyyy, that's real good there Kristy. I love how you stuck with the greek garbs of clothing. One thing I would've put..BLOOD! mwahaha! lol, j/k The minotaur looks quite good, and so does the muscular look of his human body. Neato!
    • Jul 30, 2005, 9:47:50 PM UTC
Thank you so much Chris. Damn! You know what I should have put in here? The thread that Ariadne gave him so he would be able to find his way back out of the Labyrinth. Doh Ah well. Thank you for leaving me such a kind, yet "gorey" review love. You see, the reason I didn't put any blood on it because I am very squeamish and would pass out if I saw blood. And if that happened, I would have never got this done. Whew! That was a mouthful. All my love, Chris. ^_^
