Hall Om Mig Nu - 01 sketch

Posted Mar 27, 2008, 8:29:24 PM UTC

First of two sketches I did last night/this morning. Probably the better of both. I never submit my rough sketches, so I figured I would submit these to show a bit more of the progress that happens with my artwork. Nothing super amazing, I know there are some things that are off, but I wasn't really paying too much attention with my rough sketch. They're fixable on the computer anyway. Feel free to point some things out, but be gentle lol ;3. Edited hue saturation and cleaned up scanned sketch a bit.

One of my watchers had mentioned that Zimmie looked rather masculine in the face, and I agreed to it, also saying that I did it on purpose. So I figured I'd experiment with making her more feminine overall. Feel free to look between my previous work and this one to see the difference. I'm not sure if I like it LOL. Mostly just because I'm not used to it I guess ^^. Will post the story to this once the inking is done o3o Cause there is one..

*sigh* I need to practice drawing people interacting. Tongue Thanks for the reminder. x3

Looks nice so far. I kinda like Zimmie the way she looked before, though. o.o She didn't look THAT masculine.

That's exactly what I'm doing XD I only have one picture of three people interacting, and it's on the red curtain lmao. I need to put moar people into one picture x_x I'm good with two for now though.

Seriously? I'm glad someone does...because I do too...just doesn't seem right to me I guess. I've gotten so used to drawing her a certain way, changing it wouldn't feel right to me. The only real thing that's changed is probably her hair is dimmed down a bit, has more eyelashes and her lips are a bit more noticable. It's amazing what a few things can do to a person lol.

Laughing It certainly is. But I agree with you on getting used to someone's appearance, and then just changing it. Tongue It doesn't feel right.

Yeah...it is. I talked to someone yesterday and they just labled all of my characters with simple cliches and stereotypes which really irritated me. I feel like I can't see my characters anymore....like something just up and left. It's kind of depressing...

I wouldn't worry about it. People do that to me all the time. Just let them think what they want to. I suppose, as an artist, you gotta get used to that kind of nonsense. People can be jerks, but they (usually) don't mean it.

Yep, can't please anyone either. Recently someone called Zimmie a mary-sue -___- which irritates me, but I know she isn't one so that's really all that matter to me lol. Thank you for your support Smile

hmmm. you would never think that a friece woman like her would fall in love and be a woman...to tell the truth i don't a lot about the anime so i don't know how she acts or anything. just what you've drawn. but i like your sketches. personally i like the rough look.

Anime? This isn't from an anime, if that's what you were thinking but I guess I could take that as a compliment XDDD

You'd be surprised....Zimmie has a much kinder side beyond her tough exterior that few get to see and actually appreciate. Malcolm and Zimmie have some history, and have been happily married for about 10 or so years...They have a lot in common, and some people might think it's weird, but it's my favorite pairing ever >3 I'd go on and on, and post character information but I never know if anyone is interested because they never say anything x__x or not many anyway.

well, i think it's interesting how you give your characters so much life and meaning. it's amazing how your mind works in such a creative way.
