WIP1 - Violin

Posted Aug 25, 2008, 8:32:21 PM UTC

Instalment one in my new series.  Look everyone!  A drawing from me!  This means A:  I have a scanner in my possession, and B: I'm finally home after a year's absence, though I will have a full course load when university is back in session.

Anyhow, about the drawing.  This is the first in what will be a many-part series of music spirits.  This is Violin, as you can see, and yes, I got some violin proportions off.  I just found that out, but it's so heavily dark with the graphite, that fixing it will ruin the whole picture, so I will have to live with the mistake.

There comes a time in nearly every fantasy artist's career when they try their hand at an Art-Nouveau inspired piece.  Well, here you have it:  My first try.  Hence the heavily outlined figure.

This piece will be done totally in mechanical pencil on 8.5 by 11" sketchbook paper.  I've upgraded, though - you can't see through this paper!

Hope you all enjoy it so far.

It's good to see people again for me too. It wasn't really a year off - I was working and doing textiles. I just had no scanner while I was gone (I sent your commission from there).

But I've been pretty good. How are you? I should be able to get some more drawing time in with being back in university rather than at work. I have more work area here at this house, and better lighting - so I don't have to sit for hours in an uncomfortable position straining my eyes in order to complete a drawing - you know?

Anyhow, I'm close to actually being finished this picture now, so I'm going to get back at it. It's so great to see notes from my friends again.

Actually, besides finishing my comic, I've been sick most of a year XD It's so sad. This winter has been very bad for me, and the comic gave me alot of health woes from stress. I love how this has turned out though! I can feel the nouveau feel to it- all it needs now is the earthy tones and it'll be poster perfect ^^ Welcome back anyways Glomp

Are you talking about the finished version, or this WIP?

I wish I could make posters, but I never get any requests for purchases, so I end up just losing money on them. I'm just not well known enough as an artist, I guess - but that's my own fault, for not self-pimping enough.

Again - I'm glad your better now. Hopefully you can get back on your feet and stop stressing so your body catches up to proper health. My best wishes to you, luv.

Finished also ^^ Posters are tricky things- They need to be the right size and price, and unless it's a cool design, people aren't likely to buy it off the net as they are in person. I go to cons to sell my posters. They sell well there cause people can take them immediately. They usually think twice if it needs to be couriered >.>

Yes, I agree completely. The trouble, then, is that I don't go to cons at all - or never have gone - so I will have to stick with my commissions, few and far between though they may be (of course, I've been out of service for the last year and a half, so I'm not complaining. Wink )

Thanks luv! How's the PD story going? Any new developments in the last year?

Sorry I've been gone so long. I'll be trying to make a good comeback now, as best I can.

        Bleh. No, Super Mod's probably going to get a complete makeover once I'm willing to look at it again. Sick That and I have to find all my notes. Sweat Drop But I mostly just got sick of the project, so I decided to put it away for a while...and then I lost the notes. -_-;;

        Glomp Welcome back!

Oh, that's too bad. I was enjoying reading the story. Ah well - I know what it's like to get sick of a project and put it away.

          Thanks for the welcome back!
