Whispersilk Cloak shading

Posted Aug 23, 2005, 9:50:40 PM UTC
No, sadly, this isn't my own original idea. If you've ever played Magic the Gathering (card game) you would know what this a picture of, but if not, here's a link to what the real thing looks like:http://cardkingdom.com/card_viewer.php?sid=580089030&pid=110571. I love thi cloak so much(the look anyways) wish I had one of my own like it lol. The shading on this was a wee bit hard, cus there's so much variance in light and dark color in the cloak, including the see through part close to the bottom. Well, hope yall like how I did it ^^ Done with a 0.5mm mechanical pencil.

That's really nice, I love the colak. You've really got an eye for the details my friend.^^ Actually it reminds me of those things in LOTR if you remember, the Nazguls or whatever they're called. I was going to draw one riding that dragon thing but I still have to work the details in my mind.Wink

Thankyou ^^. And yeah, it does remind me of the dark riders from LOTR O.O Alls ya gotta do, is find a reference piccy with one of em, look at the detail involved, and then turn it into your own Smile

Guess you're right. Thanks. Keep up the good work is all I can tell you. Wink
Now back to my website building. You know, I decided to use 3Dmax to build it. I want it to be really cool lol.

3D studios max? I used that back in 10th grade for my computer animation class, that was a fun program ^^ I had actually made the ferris wheel that you see in the Inuyasha ending theme song 1. with fire works n stuff. Nice lil' program to use Corky Smile And you're welcome ^^

Tenth grade ha? What version was that? Now I'm quite intrigued to see what you've been doing in that prog. I only had a year to learn it and I still learn stuff there.

Hmm, I wish I could remember what version it was. I knew we watched movies like Ice age, a bugs life etc. as our treat for doing so well in them, because those are computer anime movies. So he often then after, assigned us a project, to design the characters or a scene as best we could using what we learned in the program. Gawd..I haven't used it since 10th grade, and that was HALF a year, and then after I ad to move to Maryland, so I never got to take my second year of it, which sucked, cus I was having fun with that, plus I had the highest score among all his students in that -_- BAH lol. But yeah, it was a rather neat program to use for rendering,3d modeling..lighting effects..animation..all that stuff. A pricey program too isn't it? O.O

Actually I learned it only half a year and it was two years ago. But the teacher didn't teach me much. I mostly learned the prog myself. Still I was one of the best in class, although blah, I don't know if the level you learned it was the same as mine. The best I can do is build the damn skeleton and move the figure with it. I would have shown you a movie if it weren't so heavy. I wish I had learned it at school. But mine was a damn crappy one too. We barely had computer classes ><! Now I'm also building a virtual museum with it and it's really fun hehe!Smile

Virtual museum O.O whew, that's gonna be fun, I had trouble sometimes with the viewpoints for looking inside things, I was always crashing into the object I wanted to go in, then couldn't find my way out >< lol. And we had these BIG thick books on the program to study/use as well >< dang that would be some heavy reading to go through lol. Our class was set-up too with good computers so we could run the program smoothly. W each had our own station, and a partner beside us to help the other when we got stuck.

I had no such thing here! And we barely uesd books, but everything was only explained in class. no wonder most people didn't learn the prog well><. We were also loaded with other subjects and homework so most people in my group preferred not to get stuck on it, except a few including me. It's not really bombastic what I'm doing but I still think it looks pretty.

Oh yeah, it does indeed look scary-ish. Stinks I don't got no graphite stuff to shade (o.5mm isn't exactly the ideal shade tool lol, so thin >.< lol) thanks for the comment.

LOL Oh it's alright ...you should go and get some graphite pencils! I have woodless graphite...they work awesome....it would have showed up alot better ...but it looks awesome!! Nice job!! yay!! go chris!!

Nice cloak Chris. *whistles* I have never played Magic the Gathering before. I lead a very sheltered life. However, the different degrees of shading you achieved on this are really quite good. it gives the whole cloak dimension. Very nicely done sweetie pie. ^_^ All my love.

Thanks very much luv Smile The darned shading felt like it was taking forever, like I was saying OMG when can I stop? lol, I hate going through the same exact shade one at a time lol. Thanks for the comment, love ya!

That is the worst part of doing shading hun. By the time you are done, it feels like your hand is going to fall off. >_< But you can rest assured that you have done a wonderful job and you can be quite proud of yourself for all that work. Love yas too. ^_^
