Rebel without a cause

Ilay Almarel Cearlon, the son of the recent head of the Council of Elves from the city of Valeriina.
Due to the restrictions his people chose for themselves Ilay hasn't seen much of the country of Elysia in his life. The Elves decided to seclude themselves from the humans after decades of war sparked by religious believes and jealousy. No human is allowed in the halls of the high city in the northern mountains or the nearby Academy of Dragon Riders, Terranoun. There's only two exceptions from the rule, one being the respective heir to the throne of the human capital of Albia, who is allowed to be brought to Terranoun at a young age and be trained there.
Ilay, despite having the responsibility of being a dragon flight teacher, had an affair with the current heir, Prince Jesper of Albia. Though it was nothing more than physical attraction being with a human (who was 18 at that time and close to leaving the academy for good) sparked the curiosity in Ilay. He asked to be permitted to leave and travel the land and after failing at that tried to raise discussion about opening up to the humans again.
His father, Shay, was strictly against that, as was his sister, who also had a seat in the council. So Ilay decided to go rogue and leave the city on his own with his Dragon Rales.
He travels Elysia since then, actually being afraid to return despite some very bad experiences with humans.

I especially like the way his right hand is held...a very delicate, genteel sort of way. Smile
