Zaewen al Li'Xiaran

Age: 24

Birth Date: July 21

Birthplace: Ishallara, Der Dréin; Qijong Jei. *Ishallara is a city, located in the Der Dréin prefecture in the country of Qijong Jei.

Clothing: Zaewen’s outfit is traditional daywear in Ishallara. The pattern on it denotes her place in the Xiaran clan, and the colors denote that she is the daughter of Li.

Hobbies: Cooking, baking, bike-riding

Occupation: Waitress and cook in her family’s restaurant, Leixie.

Fears: The death of her family, fire

Positive Characteristics: Bubbly and cheerful, easy-going and agreeable

Negative Characteristics: Impulsive and rash, dreamy and scatter-brained

Personality: Zaewen is bubbly, always the first to greet a customer at the door. She’s always polite and soft-spoken, until you get under her skin. She reacts before thinking, often to the embarrassment of her family. She isn’t always dependable, avoiding an issue until she’s pressed to make a decision.

History: Zaewen and her family hail from Qijong Jei, a world located in the tenth series of dimensions (there are twelve series total). The tenth series is known for its alcasha, people who have human and animal characteristics. Qijong Jei is primarily inhabited by nir alcasha. (“Nir” translates to “cat;” there is no direct translation for “alcasha” but it is often interpreted to mean “human-animal.")

Zaewen has a younger brother named Jiang, a mother and a father. Her mother’s name is Qiu, and her father’s name is Li. She comes from the Ciaran clan. In Qijong Jei, it is customary that a person’s last name be formed using their father’s name and clan name. Thus, her last name is al Li’Xiaran, the “al” loosely translating as “from.”

Zaewen was born in Xieling to a middle-class merchant family. The family later moved to Qijong Jei when Jiang was born. There, her family set up their restaurant, Leixie. They specialize in foreign foods, like wanton soup and sweet and sour chicken. Zaewen grew up in the restaurant, helping her family clean and serve.

When she was around six (her brother was two or three), Qijong Jei was set afire by Shyam Margor, called the Destroyer of Worlds. Zaewen and her younger brother were trapped in their restaurant when the fire started. Zaewen managed to get her brother out of the burning building, but couldn’t get out herself as a beam collapsed in front of the front exit and going back through the house would have been suicide. For a reason never explained to Zaewen or her family, Shyam rescued her.

A few days following Zaewen’s twenty first birthday, Shyam returned to Qijong with his apprentice, the Master Worldwalker, and the Lady Worldwalker, and they dined together at Leixie. While there, the Lady Worldwalker gave Zaewen a small hand mirror, telling her to keep it a secret because the mirror was very special. Even after three years, she has never managed to figure out exactly what it does.

**Sorry for making that so long… Wow, I hadn’t intended to write that much at all. Obviously, Zaewen lives in a world I’ve already created. Shyam, his apprentice, the Master Worldwalker, and the Lady Worldwalker are all a part of that world. I thought it would be fun to create a “nobody” character since all of the characters currently involved in that story line have such a prominent place. Zaewen isn’t necessarily a “nobody” character, but she only shows up the one time where the Lady hands her the mirror. I’m not sure if she fits the timeline yet, though. I might have to tweak that later.
