Kodai came to earth from the planet of Kradvia. His people need a titanous amount of salt to survive, and the food on Earth was the only food that contained high enough amounts of salt to form a steady supply of food to one of their species. The Kradvian salt mines usually provide more then enough food for the inhabitants of the planet, but the war with the Hghodese has left them cut off their food supply as the enemy gained terrain. Kodai is not the only one fleeing from the horrors of war. Kradvians are shapeshifters to an extent, meaning they can take on the form of anything they’ve seen, but their tentacles will always be present. The ones who chose humanoid forms faced a high risk of execution, as it was taboo to their Hghodese oppressors. Kodai always preferred a humanoid shape, and ended up with a bounty on his head.

His spaceship was hit mid-flight, and crash landed on Earth. Kodai quickly found the blue planet was inhabited, and quietly studied humans and their habits for many years. He learned to assume a human disguise in order to get a job and buy food. He is known to the people around him as a quiet and reclusive guy, but is actually very open and genuinely interested in many aspects of human culture. He is afraid to show his true form because of the image tentacle porn has given aliens like him, and doesn’t want to scare anybody.

Though Kodai plans to make Earth his permanent home, he keeps trying to repair his spaceship should things go wrong.
