Jan Theme Week - Painted Bokor

Posted Jan 8, 2016, 10:55:34 PM UTC

My submission for the January Theme week :)
I struggled to find an idea for these colours within my comfort zone so I went for a painted person look.

I kept my shading to the same colours, only using a darker shade for the shadows and a lighter one for the highlghts - nothing in between.  It seems a little washed out but I gave it a go :P  I just need practise! More colour themes during the year will help with that!!

*nudge wink*

    That hair, omg it must have taken for ever to draw. Her Tatts are amazing, the really give off a tribal witch doctor feel, especially coupled with the little skulls on her hair pins.
    So good being able to comment on this now rather than just admiring it. XD

      OMG Hi! ^_^
      Thank you Smile Her hair took freakin forever x__X
      I'm so glad that I managed to pull off the witch doctor feel. The woman herself probably should be a bit more ethnic - Haitian or something...but honestly? This pic started life as my "Nameless" lol...half way through I changed it because I spam her a bit much >_>

    Oooo! I really like this! Those look like glow-in-the-dark tattoos or something, and I get an immediate sense of a strong personality from her expression. And that hair style is just amazing!

      Oooh snap...I'm a bit late to the party. Sorry for the delay!
      I'm so glad you like it Smile Also over the moon that you got that sense of personality from her expression. I've been working on expressions a while. Glad it's starting to pay off.

        Yeah- pallet challenges can be difficult cause of the limited colour choice, but it's a good challenge too. I've seen a lot of colour tutorials that limit your pallet to make it easier to colour. I'm... still working my head around it. I'm still at taking palets from photos or the net. The problem with digital is that there is just too much to work with, and that's why colour can clash, cause you aren't limited in the first place. I'm wanting to do more pallet challenges to practice limited pallets but man- I don't know where I'm going sometimes with colour XD There's so much to learn.

    That is really good. You got skills with skin tone.

      Thank you!
      Skin is my fave thing to colour - but still needs work so I guess I just have to keep drawing all the time forever! ^_^;
