Ok. I had intended this to be an Inktober, but didn’t finish in time.
Recently a friend gave me a link to C.S.E. Cooney’s short story “The Big Bah-Ha” and I thought this is weird and wonderful and cathartically dark and then shining with hope and it makes so many pictures in my head that if I could draw well enough to put them on paper I would die happy - or that general sentiment, if not exact words. But then I wondered what else this author had written. And I looked. And I found “The Bone Swans of Amandale"...
Oh. Gracious. 0.o It was weird and wild and wonderful in a different way than “The Big Bah-Ha” (disclaimer: a bit risque in places in addition to the Grimms'-style violence) but it was fairytale and hungry and moonlit and vengeful and haunted and a really clever twist on an old tale (or more than one) into the bargain. Also, death and bone and fairy-glamour seemed perfect for the month of Halloween.
